During this Phase, IMC was:
• Researching and establishing safety guidelines
• Securing supplies of Personal Protective Equipment
• Making alterations to the physical facilities
• Training staff and vendors in the new guidelines and requirements
• Implementing a communication plan conveying these requirements to staff, tenants, vendors and visitors
During this phase, members of the trade were again permitted to enter the facilities. This happened in two distinct stages:
• Customers of open daily tenants and those who chose to be open for non-Market buying were accommodated on a limited basis, by-appointment only, and with certain procedural safeguards
• As soon as the facilities were prepared, signage and PPE was deployed, and training was completed, the buildings reopened to attendees; AmericasMart on June 8 and the remainder of the properties on June 15.
This phase will extend over a period of several months. During Phase 3:
• Much of IMC’s workforce continues to work remotely until their presence is required on-site
• IMC will continue to staff as necessary to support both on-campus activity and its remote workforce
• We will evaluate on a continuous basis its on-site staffing needs, will recall staff as and when indicated
• The balance of our staff will undergo training in the protocols, proper use of PPE, and transitioning back to the workplace.
As the current restrictions on gathering size and population density begin to ease, IMC will continue to:
• Reinvent our Markets to comply with safe practices and the limitations then being imposed in each jurisdiction
• Refine registration procedures to expedite entry and credentialing
• Address issues of crowd size to ensure necessary distancing and occupancy restrictions
• Scale up existing protocols for screening entrants, managing traffic flow, and ensuring building hygiene
• Clearly and repeatedly communicate the necessity of all entrants abiding by the guidelines.
