Mary Erickson and her two daughters established a donor advised fundso that together they could support efforts close to their hearts. They also knew that, through the Community Foundation, they could help meetneeds of which they might not otherwise be aware. As a result, the Erickson Family Fund made the lead grant to help restore part of theAlanson Hillside Gardens, a lovely focal point for the community.

WHEN COMMUNITY
WORKS TOGETHERBETTER ISPOSSIBLE
When Shayground needed to come down, community members, studentsand the school worked together to determine a replacement. With costsfor the main structure covered by the school district, the Community Foundation stepped in to make the play area even better by providing new 'stand alone' play options that were specifically selected to meet theneeds of all students, providing greater access for everyone.

A BIGDIFFERENCE
Ask any young person that has served on the Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) and they will tell you, everyone can be a philanthropist. As YAC member Sarah Williams shared, “I’ve become aware of what even a small amount of time or money can do for our community, how much passion nonprofits have and the good that is produced by it.” Large or small, your support matters! Together, the possibilities are endless.
