Our�target�was�not�only�to�rebuild�a�legacy�solution�while�
retaining�the�previously�supported�features,�but�also�to�ensure�
the�solution�was�scalable.�We�analyzed�the�challenges,�vision�
of�the�eStore�team�and�proposed�the�Magento�Framework,�
customized�to�cover�the�following�needs�while�enriching�the�

BUSINESS�NEEDS
We�have�developed�the�Samsung�India�online�shop�and�are�currently�maintaining�it.�It�has�been�built�using�Magento�Community�1.9�framework.�The�objective�was�to�provide�a�good�scalable�online�ecommerce�platform�for�Samsung�consumers,�employees�and�enterprises�directly�linked�with�Samsung,�to�purchase�different�products�with�ease.
Samsung�India�eStore�team�was�facing�several�challenges�with�the�previous�shopfront�(built�in�ASP�.Net):
The�product�detail�pages�had�a�limitation�of�how�much�content/detail�eStore�team�could�showcase�for�user's�perusal.�
Had�not�yet�been�scaled�to�support�features�like�pre-booking,�multiple�payment�gateways,�tracking�of�shipments�etc.�
The�earlier�website�was�not�responsive,�hence�limiting�the�usage�on�mobile�devices.
Users�account�was�not�in�sync�with�www.samsung.com
Website�used�to�get�bogged��down�with�high�traffic�load�and�was�slow.
Content�management�was�very�basic�and�made�it�difficult�to�roll�out�quick�flash�sales�/�campaigns.
eStore�team�had�to�maintain�B2C�(Business�to�Consumer),�B2E�(Business�to�Employee)�and�B2B�(Business�to�Business)�stores�from�three�different�administrator�panels.
Generating�and�managing�the�sale�reports�was�quite�difficult.

perusal�and�minimize�the�gaps.�
A�Content�management�engine�to�cover�the�challenges�for�
keying�in��details�for�the�complete�product�line�available�on�
Samsung�India�Online�Shop�as�per�need.�
Enhanced�features�like�Pre-booking,�Notify�me,�Multiple�
Payment�Gateways,�Track�Shipments�etc.�with�control�
provided�to�eStore�team�to�be�able�to�turn�on/off�a�feature�
as�per�requirement.�
Deployed�and�customized�a�responsive�theme�to�increase�
the�reach�and�usability�of�the�online�shop.
Engaged�Samsung�SSO�(single�sign�on),�to�provide�a�unified�
customer�base,�allowing�users�to�be�able�to�access�global�
websites�using�one�account.
Designed�the�back-end�architecture�of�the�new�system�to�
scale�(hosted�on�Amazon�Cloud)�and�tackle�traffic�load.�The�
load�is�balanced�using�Elastic�Load�Balancers�during�high�
traffic.�Caches�have�also�been�leveraged�to�segregate�the�
content�delivery�load�of�the�website.
Since�any�E-Commerce�portal�needs�to�ensure�that�the�
consumer�credentials,�data�related�to�sales�and�purchase�is�
safeguarded�at�all�times,�the�new�application�has�been�
encapsulated�by�server�level�security�modules,�to�prevent�
unwanted�intrusions�on�the�website.�The�database�/�
backend�layer�is�further�secured�with�a�server�level�firewall�
which�does�not�provide�access�from�outside.
The�administrator�panel�access�levels�have�also�been�
enhanced�using�feature-based�roles�and�permissions,�while�
tracking�all�the�changes�made�through�the�Admin�portal.
Flash�sales�and�campaigns�are�now�easy�to�manage�and�
can�be�rolled�out�as�and�when�needed,�while�using�the�
customized�workflows�implemented�within�Magento.
All�the�three�store�fronts�(B2C,�B2E�and�B2B)�have�been�
merged�while�following�the�prior�business�rules/workflows�
in�addition�to�providing�new�features.�Since�the�data�is�
centralized,�the�eStore�team�can�manage�the�product�line,�
orders�and�offerings�from�one�single�Admin�panel.
Reports�have�been�upgraded�further�to�provide�all�the�
analytical�information�needed�by�the�eStore�team.�They�
have�been�further�enhanced�to�provide�data�analysis�with�
quicker�results.�
The�distribution�line�in�the�backend�of�the�new�application�
has�been�enhanced�to�allow�engagement�of�multiple�
distributors�and�brand�shops�to�upload�and�sell�their�
respective�inventories�online.�The�shopfront�can�now�
engage�in�'online�to�offline'�and�'offline�to�online'�booking�
of�orders.
As�the�scope�of�the�application�is�vast,�we've�deployed�
automated�processes�to�manage�the�test�cycles�and�
deployment�of�the�production�releases.�
