THREE TIPS FOR BETTER AIR TRAVEL

Some of his roles involved up to 70% travel which means he is on the road a lot. Here are three tips for better air travel from a veteran of running after flights:

Try and avoid busy and congested airports. Airports such as Chicago, La Guardia, Los Angeles are notorious for busy airspace and long delays. If your client or project is in one of these cities, try and negotiate with them in terms of leaving during the afternoon to avoid the evening rush at the airport. Try and make arrangements to come in and leave on days that are not busy air travel days, like Tuesday and Saturday.

Ask about services and options. Many airports have services for waiting business travelers and families that you may not have known about. Ask airport staff if there are other security lines with shorter waits, for example, or if there are additional services like play areas for children.

Treat the ramp agents with respect and don’t yell at them. I have found if you stay calm during times of equipment or weather delays, the gate agent will work with you to get you rebooked on the next flight and in some cases in a better seat than you were in on your previous flight. I have never seen a passenger who is belligerent and yelling at a gate agent get what they want.
