A BIG THANK YOU to all who helped host the elections in our parish hall! Supported by the Parish Pastoral Council and coordinated by the parish office, it earned $2,600 for the parish. The cake stall and sausage sizzle were staffed by 22 parishioners. Ian Stevenson (school) helped set up. A dozen people donated cakes and

sweets. Most of all thanks and congratulations to Helen Price who was the mover and shaker. Bravo!

PLAYGROUP – will resume this Thursday morning 14 July at 9:30am in the Parish Hall. Parents, carers or grandparents with young children are very welcome.

GOINGS ON….you may have noticed the demountable classrooms in place on the parish oval. These have been installed in as the demolition of Block 2 within the school has happened during the school holidays. During term time the driveway leading to the church carpark will be blocked off between 8am-9am as a safety precaution for the school children accessing their classrooms on the oval. Please be patient when approaching for church events. Thank you

CONGRATULATIONS to parishioner Peter Gifford celebrating his 90th birthday this week. Hoping your birthday, like your

lifetime, is full of love from family and friends, unforgettable moments and happy memories.

CONVERSATIONS ABOUT CATHOLICS – You are invited to attend a free training session on 7-8:30pm 20th of July, at Our Lady of Graces, Carina. This program has been designed to assist parents with their own questions and uncertainties about church, and in turn encourage and empower them in the Faith Formation of their children. To RSVP, please email - [email protected] by Friday 15 July.

QUO VADIS WEEKEND – Vocation Brisbane invites young men who are considering priesthood to attend the Quo Vadis weekend held at the seminary. The weekend introduces men to the life and ministry of the priest, formation at the seminary and how to discern the call. 26–28 August. Cost $50 (by donation). Please contact Adam Burns, [email protected] to register or for more information.

VOCATION VIEW – Treating others with compassion is a mark of a follower of Jesus, whether known as The Good Samaritan, Mother, Priest, Sister, Deacon or Brother. Turn to the Lord in your Need. Pray for vocations. To talk about your vocation, contact the Vocation Office on 3324 3351.

HUMOUR - A father was at the beach with his children when his 4 year

old son ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore where a seagull lay dead in the sand. “Daddy, what happened to him?” the son asked. “He died and went to Heaven’, the Dad replied. The boy thought a moment and then said, “Did God throw him back down?”

REFLECTING ON OUR CENTENARY Celebrating a centenary acknowledges our debt to those who have gone before us and looks to the future in hope. The parish story does not just concern priests and principals, church and school events. There is a living tradition of the people and families who have been and are the Church in this area. That is why we have prepared a centenary history of the parish,

100 Stories for 100 Years. These stories put flesh on the debt we owe to those who have shaped the past, given us the present and set us on the path to the future. The book is for sale at $30. Get copies for yourself, family and friends. You will be inspired! On sale after all Masses. Also available from the Parish Office for purchase with your credit or debit card.

RAFFLE TICKETS in support of JIM Project will be available after Mass next Sunday. Prizes will be drawn at the Melbourne Cup Luncheon. Please help with the great cause.

The launch of CATHOLIC WORSHIP BOOK II is a momentous occasion for the Catholic Church in Australia, and not just for liturgical musicians. It is a worship book and so is of value to all who worship and those who prepare liturgy. The launch will take place in the parish of Sts Peter and Paul on Friday 22 July at 7pm. All parish musicians and singers are invited to attend.

ST LAURENCE’S COLLEGE in partnership with ST STEPHEN’S CATHEDRAL is offering an opportunity for Catholic boys interested in attending the College and being a part of the Cathedral Choir. “…we are called to play the good Samaritan on life’s roadside; but that will only be an initial act. One day the whole Jericho road must be transformed so that men and women will not be beaten and robbed as they make their journey through life. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it understands that an edifice that produces beggars needs restructuring. “ Martin Luther King , Jr – Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?

ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH

CHORUS

All the ends of the earth, all you creatures of the sea, Lift up your eyes to the wonders of the Lord. For the Lord of the earth, the master of the sea, Has come with justice for the world.

Break into song at the deeds of the Lord, The wonders he has done in ev’ry age.

Heaven and earth shall rejoice in his might; Ev’ry heart ev’ry nation call him Lord.

MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION When we eat this bread and drink this cup, we proclaim your death, O Lord, until you come again.

COMMUNION HYMN

I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

I am the bread of life. You who come to me shall not hunger; you who believe in me shall not thirst. No one can come to me unless the Father beckons.

CHORUS

And I will raise you up, and I will raise you up, and I will raise you up on the last day.

The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world And you who eat of this bread, You shall live for ever, you shall live for ever.

Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man And drink of his blood, and drink of his blood, you shall not have life within you.

I am the Resurrection I am the life. You who believe in me, even if you die, You shall live for ever.

Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, The Son of God, who has come into the world.
