Tom Ford to Launch Exclusive Exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum !Every New Yorker glides through the city pavement past the steps of the famous Metropolitan Museum of Art. Until now, very few knew that Tom Ford, the CEO of the world-renown fashion label, is a frequent visitor of the Met. !Ford recently announced plans to launch an art exhibit at the museum featuring some of the label's past concept art. !"My favorite artist in the entire museum is Claude Monet," said Ford. "His art inspires me everyday and I hope to someday leave a mark on the art world like Monet did." !Every year, the international fashion label hosts a charity runway show. For the past seven years, the runway show has been held in the Met's west wing. This year, Ford has decided the beneficiary will be the museum itself. !While Ford usually premieres the label's spring shoe line with the ready-to-wear clothing line during New York Fashion Week, he has pushed the line to preview at the annual runway show this year. !Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue, publicly applauded Ford's efforts to merge fashion with art. She is set to sit front and center at the charity runway show, as always. Ford promises that this year will be special, even for the likes of Wintour. The unveiling of an exclusive shoe will take place at the runway show in December. !!

"Growing up in New York, the Met has always been important to me. It has been my inspiration, my sanctuary and the place to collect my ideas," said Ford. "I want to give back to the museum this time around." !Details of the reveal have been kept under the wraps from the media for the most part. The separation of the Tom Ford clothing and shoe lines makes sense this year. Tom Ford wants to avoid the cannibalization of the two product lines. By allowing on-lookers to admire both lines separately, the shoe line will be given more spotlight. !While Ford cannot capitalize on media buzz for the new shoe line during New York Fashion Week, it gives him the opportunity to steal the limelight from other designers who have already premiered their spring products. !It's no longer about selling products for Tom Ford International. As the company is scheduled to open a flagship store in Milan, the fashion label is refocusing on charitable goodwill and extending its artistic vision. !Ford wants the fashion label to be described and recognized as 'art' in advance of the Milan expansion. If the exclusive exhibit gets positive reviews from critics, Ford will consider adding similar exhibits in Tom Ford flagship stores. !"It's art, fashion and charity all in one. What more could anyone want?" explained Ford. !The charity runway show is scheduled for 8 p.m., Dec. 1 in the Metropolitan Museum's west wing. Tickets are on sale online at www.tomford.com/ART at a $500 price-point for individuals, $1,000 for a table and $10,000 for a VIP head table at the event. !! !!
