Our Tomarata Lake Wetland Visit

Rachel uses a net to dislodge insects and fish from the reeds so we can identify them.

The water clarification test was done by filling the tube with water from the lake and viewing an object in the turbidity tube. The disc in the tube was moved down with a magnet until it couldn’t be seen. The measurement was taken by reading the numbers on the side of the tube.

We identified the macroinvertebrates in the water using the WIMP. (The Wai Care Invertebrate Monitoring Protocol). It showed photos of the insects and fish we might find in the lake.
