We started at the bottom, now were here.Countless pencils burned away on grueling essays, numerous paper cuts from thumbing through textbook after textbook, and planners full of reminders to complete tedious assignments, most of which they didn’t do. After four years of the repeditous in and outs of high school life, the graduating class will finally depart from the place that had such a profound influence on their lives. They will not soon forget the friends they made during their time here, and it is with heavy heart that they say goodbye to many of them. Leaving for seperate colleges scattered across the country, graduation marked for many a final goodbye for the graduating class. Many leave their second home, and dear friends with a heavy heart. They embark on their journey with no clear end, and we wish them luck in their new lives, as they let the school, and their former underclassmen fade into what is now a memory.

graduation 2.0new beginnings start here

Think back to when we were just little freshman trying find our way around the school. Now, think about where we are now. Not everyone can say, “I graduated high school.” All of the blood, sweat, and tears that we have endured have lead us up to this moment. Then again, we can’t say it was all that bad. There were some good times with friends, and family supporting and helping us grow into the people we have become. Now a new door opens ,and it is only going to get better. This the unfolding of a new chapter in our story.

The Cougar volume 78 was printed by Balfour Publishing Company in Dallas. Our Balfour representatives are Hal Schmidt, Milani Arguelles, and Mary Beth Mciver. The price of the book started at $65, rose to $75 after Christmas Break, and the final price was $85 at distribution. Students could also purchase an engraved nameplate for $5 and a protective cover for $2. The cover was designed with help from Stephen at yearbook camp over the summer held at Texas A&M. Each section was designed by the Editors and completed by section editors and staff members. This book features 264 full-colored pages. All layouts were designed and created using Adobe InDesign CS6 and all photos were edited using Photoshop CS6. Fonts used this year include the entire Olympia Family and Typewriter. Colors used this year are Mint, Salmon, Yellow Ochre, All-American Red, and Smoke Gray.

Second, to all faculty and staff, THANK YOU for letting us bother you all year and cooperating with us. Last, but certainly not least, Mr. Fordyce...Thank you SO much for putting up with us this year and for allowing us to be completely creative and crazy. Without you, this yearbook would not even be a possibility and for that we are deeply grateful.

We love this school and we hope that this book inspires you to appreciate and love it, too.

Your Editor Speaks:This year's yearbook theme, evolve, has been such a dream for

us to create. It's amazing to think that it sparked from a little thought in the beginning of Summer and has now become what you hold in your hand. The shelves above the yearbook room with thousands upon thousands of memories in over 45 yearbooks remind us that THS has such a rich, profound history that will forever be a part of who we are today. To accentuate this, we wanted to bring back some old elements of past books to this 2014 version and remind students where we came from and why we are The Pride of Texas.

It has been a blessing and a joy to work on something held so closley by the hearts of others as we all move forward with our futures and remember how we've evolved during our school years. It's been such a privilage to look into the past from 1946 all the way to 2013. To see how much has changed, improved, grown and ultimately evolved throughout the years is such a cool testament to us as people and how we do the same. As we move forward with every second, minute, and year in our lives we evolve into the people we were intended to be all along and that is the beauty of it all ... that life is about creating ourselves. We love this book and can only hope that you do the same.

We hope that wherever you are in your life and what ever you choose to do that you do it with your whole heart and that you always choose joy in all of life's circumstances. Have courage, be spontaneous, don't ever be afraid of adventure, laugh and smile every chance you get, breathe, don't ever take yourself to seriously and live your life to the fullest & ALWAYS be yourself. #andthatsalligotfolks

First we would like to thank each and every section editor and staffer who helped us produce this book; without you this book wouldn't have been a reality and we are so thankful for the countless hours and effort you've put into it.
