Insert shot

I think that the editing at the beginning of this video has been thought about, as the colours used during the dissolve look effective and do create a meaning that is apparent to the viewer because the variety of colours that are used compliment the band's name, 'the colours.' This supports my decision of placing this music video in level 2 because this is an appropriate use of shot transitions. Even though I think that this part of the video is edited well, some other transitions throughout are not as strong. For example, I think that the performance element of this music video is a lot stronger than the narrative.

Long shot I have decided to place this video in level 2 because even though there are some variety of shots, the shot of the actor running appears frequently throughout the video and it is always an image of him running with his back towards the camera, not showing much variation in shots, for example, more shots of his feet or him running towards the camera could look effective. I also think that there is little control over the camera because the camera does not do much movement and sometimes the shots aren't completely steady. For example, in this shot of the love interest’s body, the camera pans up to her neck with shaky movements that do not look effective or purposeful.

Hand held shot

I think that this hand held shot is quite effective because the image is disjointed showing that the actor is running. However I don't think that there is much attention to framing because the setting in the frame does not have much relevance to the video. Also, the video implies that he is running away from/after a girl, and she is not shown is this shot so it is unclear what he is actually running towards.
