Day 1 of UPW Virtual is about breaking through the fears and limitations that have been holding you back. As a symbol of this, you will have the opportunity to break through a solid piece of wood using your bare hand! If for any reason you didn’t receive your board, here are the specifications: Option #1: Order a Board Online. The links below will lead you to providers of boards with the correct dimensions and wood types. (See below for board dimensions depending on your country.) Note: Make sure you choose a board that is ½-inch or 0.9 cm/9 mm thick. USA CANADA UNITED KINGDOM EUROPE / EU AWMA Benza Sports (Note: choose 9 mm) Playwell (Note: choose .9 cm) Dragon Sports (Note: choose 9 mm) Option #2: Find a Store that Sells Boards and Have One Cut to Order. 1. Find a store near you that has lumber for building. Depending on where you are, such a place is called a DIY store, home improvement store, lumber yard, timber merchant, building supply store, etc. 2. Call and ask if the store carries boards that are approximately 12 inches/30 cm wide and ½ inch or 0.9cm/9mm thick. Wood choices: Chinese Paulownia or White pine DO NOT get walnut, oak, or similarly dense woods. IMPORTANT: The wood must be DRY. Wet wood is rubbery and resists breaking. 3. Go to the store and have someone cut the board for you. It should be 12 inches/30cm wide by 8 inches/20 cm high by ½ inch/9 mm (or 0.9 cm) thick (see below for illustration). HERE ARE THE BOARD DIMENSIONS THAT YOU MUST ORDER OR REQUEST: Centimeters: 20 cm (height) by 30 cm (width) by 0.9 cm/9 mm (thickness) Inches: 8 inches (height) by 12 inches (width) by ½ inch (thickness) On all boards, the wood grain must run VERTICALLY. See photo above for illustration. The wood should have no knots, and should be sanded to eliminate splinters along its edges. Take your board home and store it someplace dry. And get ready for your breakthrough! “We can change our lives. We can do, have and be exactly what we wish.” TONY ROBBINS IMPORTANT The information in this handout is to set you up so that you can be instructed during the UPW program on the proper technique for board breaking. This is not for you to practice or try on your own or without professional instruction.

    PREPARE FOR YOUR BREAKTHROUGH!

By participating in the board breaking activity during the UPW program, you acknowledge that there are known and unanticipated risks that could result in physical or emotional injury, or damage to yourself, to property, or to third parties. You also understand that such risks simply cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity.

The information in this handout is to set you up so that you can be instructed during the UPW program on the proper technique for board breaking. This is not for you to practice or try on your own or without professional instruction.

    Fears

    Limitations

We have 2 strategies, one with our open hand and one with our foot. If you have a physical limitation that might prevent you

from using your hand and would prefer to use your foot, we highly recommend that you use cinder blocks, or have a strong

base about 3-5 inches above the ground.

Footwear: You need a stable base for your stance, so athletic/running shoes are best. Bare feet are also fine. NO slick-soled

shoes, flip flops, or soft-soled bedroom slippers!

On day 1, listen carefully to all the instructions for board breaking and get ready to do something you may have thought was

impossible, as you break through your fears and limitations forever!

“Focus on where you want to go, not on what you fear.”—Tony Robbins
