What are the Toolkit and the Desktop?

A bundled package of electronic legal resources provided to all lawyers and library staff in Ontario

No charge to use the resources

Funded by LibraryCo with generous financial support from the Law Foundation of Ontario

What’s the Difference?

• Toolkit is available in all 48 courthouse law libraries and all lawyers have access

• Desktop is available to all lawyers remotely:

► all associations that are designated as “local”

► Algoma, Kenora, Thunder Bay

Decision Making Criteria

• Quantitative data: statistics provided by the publishers and the Toolkit host

• Qualitative data: comments from lawyers and library staff

• Funds available: LibraryCo’s approved budget and generous funding from the Law Foundation of Ontario

• Cost of the service vs. the value and benefits of the service

• Availability of comparable free services such as CanLII
