Estée Lauder begin operations in 1946 in NYC with the husband-wife team of Estée Lauder and Joseph Lauder. They started with 4 products and in two years time, launched their department store account with Saks Fifth Avenue.

In a recent survey Estée Lauder was named as the most popular skincare brand in the world. Its product “Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II” is the most sought after product from the famous brand.

The lauder family who owns the famous brand is worth a cool $18 billion. It own brands like Clinique that sells like hot cakes, literally.

#3 Nivia

In surprising result of a survey, Nivea was ranked number two in world’s most popular skincare brands of the world. A household name, Nivea is a german skincare brand adored by one and all.

Its famous blue color branding is hard to miss and is easily recognizable world over.

Part of the Beiersdorf AG group which is based in Hamburg, Germany, it is one of the most famous products from German personal care giants.

Shiseido is the world’s oldest cosmetics brand, having been in existence for more than 140 years.

Headquartered in the Japanese capital Tokyo, Shiseido is world’s fifth largest cosmetic company in the world. It sells skincare products as well as makeup products.

Being as big as it is, Shiseido still doesn’t sell highly niche products like skin pigmentation treatment creams, anti aging creams and the likes. Having said that they own a large number of other brands and companies which sell all cosmetics under the sun.

L'Oréal is a french cosmetics company headquartered in Paris. It is world’s largest cosmetics company and make all types of skincare products that one can think of.

Famous L'Oréal advert features leading stars of the country saying “It’s worth it” and justifying the high price of the products! Founded by Eugène Schueller in 1909, it is a brand that has captured imagination of a worldwide audience for more than 100 years.

Worth a skin blasting $14 billion, it is easily one of the most coveted beauty brands of the world. But just so you know, the company’s founder Eugène Schueller was a Nazi sympathizer. Sad but true!
