DEPARTURE PROCEDURE File only the route you have been assigned by dispatch when booking your flight. If your flight did not contain a

route please refer to flightaware.com for a current flight plan. In order to increase standardization and ease the

transition into the enroute structure, for those whose routes do NOT contain an RNAV departure, Clearance Delivery

will assign those aircraft a departure procedure.

STARTUP Pilots should connect to the network at least 30 minutes prior to their ETD, and place your aircraft at a gate.

Once connected (30 minutes prior to your departure time), listen to the ATIS on 120.82. Be aware, in severe

weather, this may update frequently.

File your flight plan on VATSIM.

Contact CYYZ_DEL on 121.30 to request your IFR clearance.

After a correct readback, Delivery will advise you to contact Apron Control.

Tune the new frequency and call the controller when ready to pushback.

Apron Control will either give you clearance for pushback or notify you of any delays.

Pushback approval is valid for one minute. If you are unable to begin your pushback within this time, advise

the ramp controller. Once you have pushed back, you will be instructed to taxi to an apron exit taxiway and

instructed to contact or monitor ground control.

APRON The apron controllers advise aircraft to taxi to their designated apron exit point via Taxilane numbers which are

depicted on the Terminal Parking Diagram. The apron is technically uncontrolled so pilots are to taxi at their own

discretion, however the apron controllers will provide traffic sequencing and flow direction.

TAXI / TAKEOFF

Contact Ground (or monitor, as instructed) and advise that you are ready to taxi.

You will be given a specific taxiway routing. Read back the taxi clearance in its entirety along with any hold-

short instructions.

EXAMPLE:

CYYZ_GND: Speedbird 325, Runway 24R, altimeter 2992, taxi via Bravo, Charlie Hold Short runway 24R.

BAW125: Runway 24R, taxi via Bravo, Charlie Hold Short runway 24R, Speedbird 325.

Ground Control will advise you to either contact or monitor the tower.

Switch to the assigned tower frequency

If instructed to monitor the tower, simply listen in. The tower will contact you when workload and traffic

flow permits.

Once your takeoff clearance is given, you are expected to be ready to depart immediately. Advise tower or

ground of any delays as soon as possible.

Your routing will include the ASSIGNED SID radar vector departure. You are expected to understand and fly

it correctly. Toronto has NOISE abatement procedures that need to be followed – No unauthorized turns

below 3,600’.

Immediately after takeoff you will be instructed to contact Toronto Departure on 128.80.

When contacting departure, be sure to announce your altitude.

SIDs On Feb 9, a number of new RNAV SIDs were introduced at Toronto. These SIDs are in addition to the existing Vector

SIDs, and are used to improve traffic flow in popular directions. (You must have AIRAC cycle 1202 or higher, your

default FS9 and FSX GPS DOES NOT have the new RNAV fixes contained in the new RNAV SIDs)

For traffic departing south (OAKVL), southwest (ANCOL), west (ARTHR), and northwest (CALON), the traditional

vector SIDs continue to be applied. While aircraft departing other directions now use the new RNAV SIDs. The new

SIDs are hybrid SIDs that involve some vectors as well as fixed RNAV routes. The initial departure instructions for

each RNAV SID is the same as the vector SIDs (approx. runway heading to 5000’). Pilots can expect vectors to one of

the RNAV fixes and continue the RNAV route from that point. The RNAV SIDs will aid pilots in getting away from

arrival corridors quickly so climbs can continue sooner.

The following is a basic overview of the new RNAV SIDs. (For more specific information, consult the Preferred

Routings document found on the Toronto FIR website, http://www.czyz.ca/flightplanning.)

Eastbound: DEDKI1 (Jets), VERDO1 (Jets), BOMET1 (Props)

Southeastbound: BULGE1 (Jets), RIKEM1 (Props)

Northbound: TONNY1 (Jets), MATES1 (Props)

Northeastbound: SEDOG1 (Jets)

The eastbound and north eastbound SIDs are very long, providing outbound aircraft with a climb route away from

other airways all the way to the FIR boundary. The sheer volume of traffic going eastbound has resulted in two

separate Jet SIDs being created for eastbound routes, one 5 miles south of the other to accommodate the traffic.

Also of interest, the eastbound prop SID is on a third distinct route, separate from the two jet SIDs. The

northeastbound SID is also of interest because it has no prop counterpart. This SID is intended for NAT traffic, and as

such no props are expected to depart in this direction.
