Gracedale Public School is located in a neighbourhood thatborders on the Humber River as it crosses Islington and FinchAvenues. Opened in 1964, Gracedale P.S. currently serves itslocal community, as well as the former local school communitiesof Whitfield P.S. and Bluehaven P.S. There are approximately 700students from J.K. to Grade 5, representing 42 countries aroundthe world and over 25 languages at our school. About 80% of ourchildren were born in Canada. Gracedale P.S. offers space andresources for both after-school recreation and regular day schoolprograms which reflect community and curriculum needs. 

Using Technology to improveStudent AchievementWe have increased access to Wifiand are purchasing new computers,digital projectors, mini iPads andlaptops for technology carts whichstudents can access.  Our teachersare engaged in professionaldevelopment to integrate technology into their classrooms.Our teachers are using Smart Boards, Promethean Boards,Laptops and iPads to deliver their lessons.  Our students usetechnology as a tool to increase their learning.

Eco Schools PLATINUM CertificationGracedale is a certified Eco School with PLATINUM certification.Our students participate in several environmentally friendlyinitiatives such as Waste Free Lunches and Eco Monitors.  We havean outdoor classroom on our school grounds. We have a recyclingprogram for recycling paper and composting food waste. Weencourage parents to be part of the initiative.

Healthy Nutrition ProgramWe have a nutrition program for all of our students which includes ahealthy morning meal from three food groups. 

Special Education ProgramsWe have Primary and Junior Home School Programs (HSP) classesand resource teachers to support our students. Our specialeducation (HSP) classes are equipped with Promethean Boardsand computers.

Me to We Group InitiativesCalled ‘Me to We’, this group which is comprised of students whostrive to make a difference in a Global way by organizing food drivesto support our community. Their efforts brought in 240 lbs of foodwhich was donated to the North York Harvest Food Bank.

Student Life - Where You Belong

At Gracedale Public School, students are involved in avariety of activities.  As a part of our Eco Schools initiatives,we have a recycling program and our students participate inEarth Hour, Earth Day and Clean Toronto Togetheractivities. 

What Sets Us Apart

Gracedale is one of the largest K-5 schools with a diversestudent population. We offer a morning meal to our studentseveryday as a part of our nutrition program.  We have afterschool International languages (Punjabi, Urdu, Bengali,Gujrati and Vietnamese) classes. We have visiting artistsand performers who come to our school for specialassemblies.

Parent and Community Engagement
