Mauritianeducation authorities are therefore seeking ways to improve schools and raiseeducational standards so as to contribute to an efficient and dynamic workforce. Oneidea being canvassed is that Total Quality Management (TQM), a leadership andmanagement philosophy used extensively by business enterprises to compete in aglobalised world, could provide the framework for Mauritian school leaders todeliver imperatives for change and improvement and to achieve the government’soften-stated aim of ‘world-class quality education.’
