Designed for use in challenging conditions

Mobile machines rely on a range of sensors to control their moving parts and cantilevers. The requirements for these sensors are high: They have to be capable of withstanding impact, vibrations, dirt, wet conditions, and sharp fluctuations in temperature, while also offering failure-free, durable, and accurate operation.

ASM sensors are designed for use in precisely these con-ditions. They feature magnetic, contactless technologies, sealed sensor housings, and robust mechanical components. This guarantees reliable functionality and a long service life.

This overview comprises sensors for use in mobile machines. Sensors for other applications can be found in the full ASM range.

Cable Extension Position Sensors

Position Sensors

Tape Extension Position Sensors

posiwire® cable extension sensors feature the latest magnetic absolute encoder technology. The contactless, magnetic multihall encoders are wear free and far superior to optical encoders and potentiometer solutions in challenging conditions.

positape® tape extension sensors measure linear positions with robust, high-tech, stain-less-steel measurement tape. The measure-ment tape can be redirected multiple times without suffering any notable wear. The sen-sors feature the latest robust absolute encoder technology. This makes them ideally equipped to withstand challenging conditions.

• More robust than conventional cable sensors thanks to new technology• Degree of protection up to IP67/ IP69• Resistant to vibrations and impact• Linearity up to 0.05%• Also available with redundant encoder systems• Measurement length up to 20,000 mm

• Virtuallyinfiniteservicelifeofthemeasurementtape• Multipledeflectionspossible–includinginoppositedirections• Magnetic absolute encoder technology• High measurement accuracy through electronic linearization

(up to 0.05%) • Also available with a redundant encoder system• Measurement length up to 20,000 mm

Angle Sensors

Magnetic Multiturn Encoders

Magnetic Angle Sensorsnew product

posirot® angle sensors detect angular positions of rotating elements with absolute precision by means of a magnetic measurement principle. They are resistant to impact, vibrations, and contamination, and are even suitable for use in harsh outdoor environments.

posihall® sensors measure angular posi-tions over multiple revolutions with the help of a ‘true-absolute’ magnetic measurement principle. They are even capable of maintai-ning failure-free, accurate functionality in the event of high vibrations, powerful impacts, and temperatures between -40°C (-40°F) and +85°C (+85°F).

• Measurement range up to 255 x 360°• True-absolute measurement principle• Shock, vibration, and dirt resistance • Single-turn linearity of 0.3%• Degree of protection up to IP67/69• Optional redundant version available (PH58/PH68)

The robust alternative to optical encoders

• Measurement range from 0° to 360°• Contactless • Shock and vibration resistance • Laser-welded, hermetically sealed, stainless-steel housing • Degree of protection up to IP68• Optional redundant version available (PRAS6/PRDS6)
