CHAPTER 4: INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Travel Document - PASSPORT- a document issued by a government or international treaty organization to a certain individual to facilitate traffic across intercontinental boundaries.- a booklet that identifies the bearer that s/he is a citizen of the issuing country
Philippine passport: Machine Readable Passport (MRP) Philippine Electronic Passport (e-passport)
Visa- a type of document that is usually stamped or attached to a passport issued by the embassy of the country you wish to visit as a condition of entry
A person may be denied of a visa for the following reasons: Committed fraud in his or her application Has a criminal record or pending criminal charges Considered to be a security risk Cannot prove to have a strong ties to their current country of residence Intends to reside or work permanently in the country to be visited Has no visible means of sustenance Does not have travel arrangements (i.e. transport and lodging) in the destination country Does not have a good moral character Is applying on excessively short notice Had their previous visa application(s) rejected and cannot prove that the reasons for the previous denials no
longer exist A citizen of a country with whom the host country has poor or non-existent relations Has a communicable disease, such as tuberculosis Has previous visa/immigration violations Has a passport that expires too soon Fails to demonstrate intent to return (for non-immigrants)
Laissez-Passer- a travel document issued by a national government or an international treaty organization such as the United Nations
Refugee Travel Document- given to refugees who cannot be issued passports by their own states of nationality
1954 Convention Travel Document-issued to stateless persons not considered as refugees
Alien’s Passport- issued by states to foreign nationals who (for whatever reasons) cannot be issued passports by their state of nationality

Land title Transcript of records Baptismal certificate NBI clearance Other documents that show full name, citizenship, and birth details of applicant Photos
Basic Requirements for Visa Properly filled out application forms Passport (valid for at least six months) Photo Proof of relationship (if applying with/for dependents) Evidence of ties and financial status of the applicant in the Philippines Documents concerning purpose, length of stay, and ability to finance the trip
