WILDLIFE
Existing within a concrete jungle hardly ascertains the fact that
India has the second largest wildlife base in the world. Here in
the environs of the tropical forests of the Ghats, the Deccan
Peninsula, the Gangetic plain, the North Eastern Region and the
evergreen slopes of the Himalayas house an ample variety of
wild animals: tigers, snow leopards, elephants, antelopes, deer,
black bucks, bears, jackals, hyenas, wild buffalos etc.
Come and enjoy the cinematic exhibition during your sojourn in
the wilds. The highlights of these safaris are gripping jeep safaris,
treks, bird watching, wild life movies, photography workshops
and music renting the evening air around a bonfire.
You have our full support to shoot tiger at the well known
Manas, Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh and Kanha national parks,
the one-horned rhinocerous in the Kaziranga reserves or the
nearly extinct white lion at the Sasangir Sanctuary but through
the camera lens alone!

I N D I A
The land of Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Jnandev, Tukaram and
Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, West India, is rich in history and
spirituality, diversity and culture. For the pilgrim there is much
to encounter – the universal appeal of Sai Baba at Shirdi , whose
immense spirit ual stature continues to lure seekers of t he truth.
The temples of Dwarka are recently excavated from below the
sea. (Legend has it that when dying, Lord Krishna asked his
devotees to leave Swarnadwarika, so that the sea could engulf
it). The Somnath temple, so sacred to the Hindus, has imposing
architecture and is a beautiful sight facing the blue expanse of
the Arabian Sea. The Portuguese style churches of Diu are not
the only att raction t o this serenely beautiful getaway with golden
beaches, dense palm-groves and historical monuments. The Jain
Mecca is the exquisitely carved Palithana temples – a miniature
marble fantasy that inspire t he 90 minute ascent! For the art ist,
the rock-cut Jain, Buddhist and Hindu temples at Ellora that
co-exist side by side are a testimony to India’s multi-religious
harmony. The horseshoe Ajanta caves draw the world to their
2000 year old frescoes. For the wild life enthusiast, there’s the
bird paradise of Gondal where great varieties of our feathered
friends flock to the orchards and the river-shores. At the Sasan
Gir Sanctuary, you can catch a glimpse of that rarest of rare
species – the Asiat ic Lion. Other wildlife includes bear, antelope, hyena, fox, the nilgai or black buck. The Muslim culture in the
walled cit y of Ahmedabad, its herit age of crafts and the memories
of the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi who spent his life here
and in Rajkot are a living presence still.

apost le of non-violence.
AHMEDABAD
Sult an Ahmed Shah on the banks of River Sabarmat i founded

splendid monuments, mosques, pavilions and mausoleums.
It is from the austere habitat of Sabarmati that the ‘Father
of the Nation’ – Mahatma Gandhi took on the mighty
British Empire, and gave the human race one of its most
remarkable ways to fight oppression with non-violence.
BHAVNAGAR
Bhavnagar lies in the southeast corner of the peninsular
region of Gujarat known as Kathiawad or Saurashtra. Once
the capital of a princely state, Bhavnagar is home to several
lakes and temples. For the tourist, Bhavnagar serves as a
convenient base to visit the 900 big and small Jain temples
at Palithana on the Shatrunjaya hills. The sculptures that
adorn the marble temples present a feast to your eyes.
SASAN GIR
Sprawling in an area of 1424 sq.kms is Gir, endowed with a
luxuriantly rich ecosystem and floral and faunal plentitude.
The forest is the only place in t he world, outside Africa, where
the lion can be seen in its natural habitat. Other animal residents of the Gir National Park are sambar, chital, nilgai,
antelope, chowsingha – the four-horned antelope, chinkara
gazelle, wild boar, langur, jackal, and hyena and numerous
birds like paradise flycatcher, bonneli’ s eagle, crested serpent eagle, woodpeckers, flamingo and many more.
DIU

wave from the Arabian Sea offering undisturbed peace and
an unusual holiday. It has a great heritage and rich culture,
formed by the mixture of local Gujarati and Portuguese
culture. The silvery beaches offer an opportunity to enjoy
water sports or one can simply laze here. Nagoa is the
perfect semi circle beach where the gentle lapping waves
beckon you to wade into them for a fun filled time of
swimming, or just lolling around the soft sand shores.
GONDAL
Gondal, the fortified town located on Gondali River was the
capital of t he former Princely State of Gondal and the Jadeja
clan ruled it until India’s independence. The Orchard Palace
Retreat maintained, by the Royal family of Gondal, the
Virpur Jalaram Bapa Temple, Naulakha Palace, the Royal
Palace at Dhoraji are prime at t ractions for tourists.
SOMNATH
The Someshwar Mahadev temple stands tall amongst the
temples in India. The construction of the present temple
in Junagadh district began in 1950 and this is the 7th
temple built to commemorate the glory of Lord Somnath.
In historical times Sultan Mohamad of Ghazni razed the
temple t o the ground. After the Marathas took over Gujarat ,Rani Ahalyabai of Indore constructed a temple near the old
temple and worship is offered there ever since.
