The Visegrad Group Countries
Discover Central Europe – joint promotion of the Visegrad Group countries (V4) in tourismThe “Discover Central Europe” is a joint promotional initiative of four Central European countries – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia – in the field of tourism. These countries, known as the “Visegrad group” (V4), form one unique tourist destination boasting numerous unique UNESCO monuments, world famous spas, authentically preserved historical towns and places of stunning natural beauty.
Discover Central Europe tourist promotion on global markets is primarily focused on distant and overseas countries – the USA, Russia, China and Japan, and since 2010 also on India and Brazil. Newly since 2013 V4 countries extended their marketing activities to South-East Asia (Singapore, Indonesia, Malaisia, Philipines, Thailand), South Korea and Latin America. All Visegrad countries have been members of the European Union since 2004 and in 2007 they became part of the Schengen Area.
The Visegrad countries share historical roots, culture and traditions, which make them as a region very special. Common architecture, art, cuisine and landscape are those distinguishing features that bind them together. At the same time however, each of the member countries has its own unique identity and surprises the visitors with intriguing sights and experiences at every step of their journey. Simply put, the V4 tourist region can be perceived as a quartet of destinations, which plays the same melody, even though each of the instruments is unique.
