History of the Hamptons• Most of the towns were

formed in the mid to late 1600s by farmers and fisherman.

• 1870- Was the first time that travelers really rented rooms as they traveled eastward aboard the Long Island Rail Road from New York City.

The Hamptons really became popular in the early 1900s by the social elite of the time.

Why are the Hamptons so well known?

• The Hamptons is an area where many rich and famous choose to spend their summers amongst pristine beaches with great privacy.
