Tendencies of e-services
Areas where e-cards are used (according functions, level of security, frequency of usage)
Public services: passport, identity card, social insurance document driver license, public servant, student, retiree document
Banking cards: large amounts of money (with PIN and signature -VISA, MasterCard) low cost items (less than 25 €, without PIN or signature– Pay Pass, Visa Wave)
Business: company card (access to the office, PC, databases) micro payments (parking, vending machines, entertainment) tickets (public transport, concerts, cinema, entertainments) loyalty cards (shopping and service networks)
Student card
Stadiums, sport halls
Card functions: ticket to the event, payment for parking, food, drinks, gift card.
Turnover of stadium increased about 15% due to faster service operations (payment procedure with cash takes about 40 sec., with e-card - only 1,5 sec).
e-services available for tourists
Planning of trips and ordering via Internet, payments in public transport, museums, cultural events, discounts in hotels, cafeterias,
concerts, cinema, entertainments

Goals of the Tourist e-card project
Increase number of tourists, visiting Lithuania Develop new attractive services for tourists Encourage incoming and domestic visits, propose
practical electronic memory to tourist’s usage. Increase a number of tourist articles and variety of
public services, renewal of the products Improve the image of Lithuania as an interesting
country to visit, using innovative and new technologies
Seek effectiveness for the usage of existing public tourist infrastructure, integrate e-card with the database of tourist objects
Tasks of the Tourist e-card project
1. Develop and implement tourist e-card infrastructure, enabling payments for all tourism services presented in Lithuania
2. Increase effectiveness of national tourism information system database using e-card, allowing planning of the trip and buying of the tourist products in advance
3. Develop system, that allows to collect information about used services and number of visiting tourists.
Main functions of Tourist e-card
Tourist identification E-purse for payment in public transport
(bus, trolleybus, railway, ferries), for parking, visiting museums, culture and sport events, tolls, buying from vending machines, rent of bicycles, boats, services in Tourism information centers, etc.
Implementation of national loyalty system, used in hotels, SPA, country farms, campings, gas stations, car rental companies, shopping centers, newsagents, restaurants, etc.

1. Portal – provides full-scale information about tourism e-services in Lithuania: ability to choose interesting items to visit, pay for travel and to collect all tickets to e-card in advance
2. Broadband internet, enabling communication of all service suppliers and users

1. Development of national tourist e-card business model and arrangements of agreements with all interested parties
2. Development of technical solutions for service providers, common infrastructure (equipment requirements for service providers, interfaces, security, communication protocols)
3. Implementation of tourist e-card common infrastructure and equipment for public service providers (museums, theaters, state enterprises, etc.)
