GastronomyDiversity and abundance is Amazonia’s trademark, translated into rich gastronomy. Peruvian Amazonia is the refuge of an immense variety of animal and vegetable species. Many of

the cruises, lodges or hikes by the Amazon River.

Enjoy the exuberance of the Peruvian Amazonia. Dress lightly, wear a hat and also comfortable shoes. Remember to bring sunblock and insect repellant. As in all tropical places, it is recommendable that both national and foreign visitors take the yellow fever vaccination at least ten days before their trip.

In Iquitos

THE CITY. The itinerary includes the Iglesia Matriz (Cathedral) of Neo-Gothic style; the Boulevard with its

dating from the 19th Century such as the Casa de Fierro (Iron Mansion), designed by Gustave Eiffel, and its exquisite gastronomy.

From Iquitos

TOURS BY THE AMAZON RIVER. Its forests and lagoons are the habitat of pink dolphins, lizards, monkeys, sloths, and hundreds of bird and fish species. Lodges offer facilities and excursions through the rainforest.

NAUTA. The Marañón and Ucayali rivers merge nearby, marking the beginning of the course of the Amazon River, all this surrounded by an incomparable natural scenery.

THE BUTTERFLY FARM (PILPINTUWASI), that houses

other animals like the jaguar, sloths, monkeys, and caimans.

BORAS OF SAN ANDRÉS. A native community, that in the same way that Yaguas, Witoto and Cocama preserves its customs and ancestral wisdom.

QUISTOCOCHA. A tourist complex that entails a zoo of natives species, a beach, and typical food restaurants.

THE NATURAL RESERVES. Ecosystems of forest some on while forests, some on white sands, where new bird species have been uncovered, and others have lagoons, wetlands, and swamps spread over two million hectares.
