LIBRARY WELCOMES NEW TREASURER

NERDY LIBRARIANS ROCK WITH “READER’S BLOCK”

BOOK DISCUSSIONS

DUNDEE LIBRARY BOOK CLUB

" e Dundee Library Book Club meets on

the last Wednesday of the month at 1:30

p.m. and 7 p.m. Copies of the discussion

books are available for pick-up three weeks

before the meetings. Call (847) 428-3661,

ext. 308 for information. Next gatherings are: June 30, July 28,

and August 25. Check our website for upcoming titles.

congustos similares. Para más información, comuníquese con

Juana, (847) 409-0648 o [email protected].

Algonquin resident Norman Raven was recently sworn in as

the Dundee Township Public Library District’s newest trustee.

Raven will also serve as treasurer and takes the place of Mary

White, who stepped down in February due to family reasons.

He will complete the term for this position, which ends in

April 2011.

Raven is retired from the medical supply industry, where he

held various financial and management positions. He served in the Air Force

ROTC for four years as an internal auditor, and has a B.S. degree in Business

Administration and Accounting from Washington University in St. Louis.

He said that a+ er a few years getting used to retirement, he decided it was time to

give back to the community. “I’m a # rm believer that your brain is no di; erent than

any other muscle. If you don’t use it, you lose it. I am looking forward to utilizing my

broad administrative background to serve as treasurer,” said Raven.

When sta; from the Information Services department take their place behind

the desk, one can only guess what the day will bring. " eir job is to help people

# nd information, and the topics are limitless. " ey have decided to take that daily

exposure and research and share the more titilating discoveries via a new blog called

“Reader’s Block.”

Located on the library’s website, (www.dundeelibrary.

info) the blog is updated daily and highlights cool stu;

around the library, the web, and the community.

Lists, links, comments, experiences, and reviews

are just a click away under categories such as “beer,”

“booklist,” “dating,” “deliciousness,” “it ain’t easy

being green,” “non-fiction,” “pop culture,” “self-help,”

and “what’s your dewey number.” Drill down further

with links like “Awful Library Books,” “BoingBoing:

A Directory of Wonderful Things,” “Cake Wrecks,”

and “National Public Radio.”

So go ahead. Log on to “Reader’s Block,” click on your “Add to Favorites” and

find out about stuff you didn’t even know you wanted to know about.
