Permanent, ‘right first time’ road repair with Proteus Towable Hot Boxes, for purchase or hire
The common consensus is that repair of potholes and other surface damage is best done with hot asphalt, which allows for a proper, long-lasting fix that is resistant to stresses and weathering. Using a mobile Hot Box will allow you to keep material fully up to spec for long periods, enabling you to carry out a resilient repair procedure first time around.
The Traffic Management Act advocates the use of first-time repairs, and using hot asphalt for these reinstatements will increase efficiency by cutting down on costly return visits. And of course it also means you will never have to throw material away that has gone cold in transit.
Proteus now offers two models of trailer-mounted towable Mobile Hot Box, available to buy or for short and long-term rentals. Our demountable models obviously take up space on the truck body when mounted, but
here the towable facility means you can save all that room for storage. They can also be run without needing to be attached to the vehicle, since they do not need an external electric supply.
Model HB2TThe HB2T (shown here with optional front platform) is a twin compartment Hot Box, allowing you to store two different material types if you wish. The total capacity is around 2.5 tonnes of asphalt, and the unit weighs 1 tonne when empty.
Model HB2TT Tipping trailerThe HB2TT is a new addition to our range. It has integral tipping gear which allows users to benefit from quick, even gravity discharge on a towable Hot Box. As shown in the photos here, we can also allow for storage areas on the trailer for tools, cones and signs. This particular unit even has a small bitumen boiler pot on the front.
