Towards Sensing Information Systems

Background• Motivation
– Rising trend of transferring the communication, processing and storage capabilities from computers to devices
• Problem– Increasing complexity, lack of unifying models, lack of
interoperability• CPS, WSN are becoming application silos
• Objective of the work– Define the properties of the “future” Enterprise
Information Systems, so-called Sensing Information Systems (SIS), hosted by the devices, and guidelines for further research
• So Cyber Physical Systems can evolve to Cyber Physical Ecosystems

Semantic interoperability as a key property of SIS
• Enablers– Awareness
• self, environmental, universal
– Perceptivity• observational,
communicative
– Intelligence• meaningful,
purposeful
