Lesson Summary

Once the world started to grow after the flood, the people gathered together to build a tower and try to reach the heavens.

They were seeking glory for themselves, so God confused their language and scattered them throughout the world.

1. What did God tell the people to do? (He told Noah and his sons to grow their families and fill the earth.)

2. What did the people do instead? (They wanted to build a tower to show how great they were.)

3. What did God do to make the people spread out like He had commanded them? (He mixed up their languages so

that they could not understand each other.)

4. Have you ever tried to make yourself great? What did you do? (You can talk about how if you brag about something

that you did (like winning a game or making a good grade) doesn’t always feel quite as great as it did when it happened.

5. Why did God create the world? (God created the world and everything in it for His glory.)

6. How can we give God glory in our lives today? (open-ended discussion)

Family Activity: Jenga

Play a game of Jenga as a family. (Or just build a tall tower of something together.) Talk about ways you can bring glory to

God this week as a family!

SAY: The people in our story were trying to build a tower tall enough to reach the heavens. The people building the tower

had forgotten that their goal should have been to bring glory to God every day. Remember: Our glory doesn’t last. One mi-

nute, everyone says you are great, and the next minute no one remembers what you did. How does that remind us that we

should focus on giving glory to God? Our glory doesn’t last long, but God’s glory lasts forever! We can give Him glory by

obeying Him and pointing others to Him.
