Toyota to Increase Production Capacity in Indonesia

Toyota City, Japan, May 25, 2011—Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that PT. Toyota Motor Manufacturing

Indonesia (TMMIN), TMC's vehicle production subsidiary in Indonesia, plans to increase the annual production capacity of

TMMIN's Karawang Plant from 100,000 vehicles to 140,000 vehicles by early 2013.

The production increase, which includes a new-capital investment of approximately 16.5 billion yen and plans to hire new

employees, will make possible the addition of models to the TMMIN lineup to better meet the needs of consumers in

Indonesia.

Toyota began import and sales activities in Indonesia in 1971, marking 40 years of business there this year. In 1977, TMMIN

started production of the "Kijang", an affordable multipurpose vehicle for the Asian market. Under the IMV (Innovative

International Multi-purpose Vehicle) Project*, production of the "Kijang Innova" minivan began in 2004 and was followed by

the "Fortuner" SUV in 2005, making Indonesia an important production and supply location for the project. In 2010, TMMIN

production of IMV series models and the "Avanza" sedan totaled 107,000 units, of which approximately 45,000 units were

exported to Thailand, Philippines and the Middle East.

TMC is committed to continue contributing to Indonesia by producing automobiles that exceed customer expectations.
