Synopsis of Story:
This book is a mixture of stories concerning different holidays and observances from around the world. It includes civic, religious, and cultural practices from different countries. It also includes the holidays and observances that the United States practices. This book in written in alphabetical order to it is easier to find holidays or observances. It is a real interesting book that broadens a student’s perspective on the world.
Theme:
This book’s theme will allow a student to understand different cultural holidays and observances other than his/her own.
Activity One: • Have each student pick a different holiday or celebrations that they do not
know much about, and have them teach the class about it. • They should also include a two page essay/paper concerning their topic. • They will have to have a visual to their presentation (example poster) and
information about that holiday or celebration. • They will be expected to find other sources than this book. Examples are
online sources, personal interviews with people, etc. • This is my own idea
Activity Two: • Work in small groups, no more than 4, to perform a presentation for the class. • This presentation would include either a skit, food, or dance that is native to
one of the students in the group. • The students will plan out an outline of their skit, food, or dance to be turned
in and graded to their performance. • This is my own idea
