Celebrating 150 years of STEYR MANNLICHER we look back on 150 years of Austrian industrial history. Based on hundreds of years of tradition in weapon ma-nufacture Josef Werndl founded an enterprise in 1846 which was to become the cornerstone for a great num-ber of modern-day high-tech enterprises and the home to many important innovations in weapon design. The key to the company’s economic success was the the Werndl-Holub breech loading rifle, which became the new standard rifle of the Austrian armed forces in 1867. From 1885 onwards the rifles of Austro-Hungarian Forces were equipped with the outstanding Mannlicher straight pull repeating system. The special feature was the cartridge clip which enabled the shooter to load five or more cartridges with only one grasp.

This lead to a success where rifles from Steyr were sold to armies in more than 20 countries. In 1903 the designers Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher and Otto Schönauer created the iconic rifle of the 20th century, the world famous Mannlicher-Schönauer. This rifle set standards, in line with Werndl’s motto “Highest quality and innovation”. After the two world wars and all its difficulties the production of hunting rifles started again in 1950. The actual restart of a military production was the assault rifle “StG 58”, under license of the Belgian company FN for the Austrian Federal Army. Towards the end of the 1960ies two trend-setting rifles were produced by Steyr.

The sniper rifle SSG 69, the first serially produced high precision rifle with synthetic stock. As early as in 1970 an Austrian army officer shot world record with it.The Steyr hunting rifle with synthetic magazine, cold hammer forged barrel, and new locking system became a worldwide bestseller. In the late 1960ies the company started the development of a completely new assault rifle, the STEYR AUG. In 1977 the Austrian Federal Army decided to establish the AUG A 1, which was named StG 77 (Sturmgewehr 77), as its new standard assault rifle. Up to this day, this rifle has been one of the most modern assault rifles and thanks to its unique design the STEYRAUG has hit the screen in many major Hollywood productions.

With the new pistol MA-1, Steyr Mannlicher salutes the new millennium by introducing an innovative product in a trend-setting design. Following a first relocation in 1989, STEYR MANNLICHER moved its headquarters to the actual site at Raming Valley in 2004. New innovative products such as the MANNLICHER CLASSIC, the new MANNLICHER Luxus or the STEYR MANNLICHER SM12® were launched and were praised due to their high quality and precision on one side and an elegant timeless design on the other. True to its motto “Innovation following tradition” STEYR MANNLCHER does not only look back to a great past but also to a successful future …

FIRE POSITION DECOCKING DECOCKINGRESET ACTION – AUTOMATICALLYELECTRONIC DECOCKING SYSTEM

With its brand new Reset Action STEYR MANNLICHER sets benchmarks for the safety of modern rifles.

An integrated inclination sensor knows when the rifle is moved out of a shooting position and is still cocked. In case the shooter forgets to decock an LED signal drawns the shooters attention to the fact that the rifle is still cocked and unsafe.

If the shooter does not un-cock the rifle manually, the RESET ACTION system does that automatically and prevents serious accidents which could occur with a cocked rifle.

STEYR MANNLICHER makes a contribution to safety of modern rifles with its RESET ACTION system.

An electronic sensor reacts if the rifle is lifted up over an angle of more than 100° or is tilted sideways under 55°.

In case of a total flip over where the weapon gets upside down the system decocks immediatly.

The new LEAD FREE edition is the first one from STEYR MANNLICHER especially designed rifle for the use of unleaded ammunition. LEAD FREE editions are available for the STEYR MANNLICHER SM12® and STEYR MANNLICHER CL II models, in .30-06 Spr.

Das neue Feld-Zug-Profil mit 6 Feldern und Zügen wurde für Solid Geschosse optimiert. Durch den kleineren Querschnitt des Feldes presst sich das wenig elastische Geschoss erheblich besser ein. Die LEAD FREE Modelle werden demnächst in weiteren Kalibern erhältlich sein.

The new barrel profile with six lands and grooves is optimized for solids. The less flexible solids proceed much more evenly into the barrel due to the smaller diameter of the fields. More calibers to come!

The patented Safe Bolt System (SBS) with an additional safety bushing is regarded as an especially safe rifle concept. The shooter is effectively protected against escaping, high pressure gases and rupturing of the rifle’s receiver.

Ice, mud and residue grooves: Special grooves machined into the bolt guarantee the reliable operation of the rifle, even under extreme environmental conditions. The bolt head is extremely massive by design and locks directly behind the cartridge case into the receiver. The bolt handle also locks in to the receiver.

Magazine:The detachable box magazine allows thanks to its 2 Positions - to close the bolt on an empty chamber without removing the magazine from the rifle.

Hand Cocking System with combi trigger:Sensitive direct trigger with approx. 700g trigger weight, adjustable set trigger, decocks automatically when put in safe position

Double set trigger:Typical “GERMAN“ trigger, precisely adjustable, noiseless and smooth trigger set

Direct trigger:Trigger system individually adjustable, factory wise set with approx.1.400g trigger weight

Combi trigger:Crisp trigger with approx 1.500g trigger weight, set trigger function adjustable, decocks automatically when put in lock position

Cocking indicator: At the rear of the bolt an indicator, shows the cocked position - touchable and visible.

Safe position: The weapon can be loaded and unloaded. The trigger is locked, which prevents unintentionally firing.
