The Tradi- tional Malay Massage is divided into wellness mas- sage and therapeutic massage. The wellness mas- sage helps in reducing anxiety, improving quality of sleep and in reducing stress, while Therapeutic mas- sage helps to improve the condition of particular illness and in reducing severity of pain. This hands- on workshop prepares participants to perform both massage techniques and to be taught by a regis- tered Malay Massage practitioner. • General Publics. • Spa/Salons Operators / Massage therapists. • Midwives working in private and government hospitals. • Nurses. By the end of the course participants should be able to; • Understand the benefits of wellness and therapeu- tic massage techniques. • Know basic anatomy and physiology. • Acquire wellness and therapeutic massage tech- niques. • Know the correct posture and techniques for personal and client safety. • Have adequate knowledge of the preparation work involved; including the necessary steps to ensure proper hygiene and safety. Noorhashimah Md Ishak, a well-known figure in the Beauty, Spa and Wellness industry. She is a healer of body-mind-soul and a professional beauty therapist and hasbeen involved in the beauty industry 1980's. Noorhashimah was the President of Spa & Wellness Industry Association of Malaysia (SWiAM), a National Exco of Malay Traders and Entrepreneurs Association of Malaysia (PERDASAMA) as well as leading as a Chairman of the National Womens’ Bureau. She is the Principal of Sheroma Institute of Spa, Beauty and Complementary Sdn Bhd, Penal Industry and Asses- sor for LAN, MLVK and a member of Criterial & Stand- ard Programme for T&CM Practices of Traditional and Complementary Medicine – Ministry of Health Malaysia.
