Anna wore her dress and babushka.

The border of the quilt was made fromAnna’s babushka.

Her babushka came to visit her often.

Poverty (noun)- being extremely poor.

HomelessLack of food or clothing

Huppa (noun)- a canopy that couples stood under to get married. This is a Jewish Tradition.

The quilt was used as thewedding huppa.

Under the huppa, Anna andSasha promised each other loveand understanding.

Bouquet (noun)-a bunch of flowers.

Last night our family sewed a banner for Grandpa’s birthday.It was made from scraps of cloth that were sewn togetherinto one large sheet with needles and thread.We cut out bright letters and shapes.To make a colorful border, everyone wrote birthday wishes around the edges of the banner. We will hang it upat the yearly gathering for his birthday.
