Welcome a New Member
Please welcome John Greiner to the club. Johnlives in La Pine OR and has provided a brief
summary of what he’s up to. “I am new to vintage motorcycles but quickly
getting the bug. I’ ve been riding most of my life
on newer machines.
My son and I found a garage bike in Portland lastJune, a 1935 VLD, and have started the
restoration process, it was pretty beat up, we
have been gathering parts, and knowledge from
around the world. It’s been a lot of fun. We arehoping to have it ready for the Fort Sutter meetin Dixon, CA for its first judging.”
Enjoy your project John. We wish you the best of
luck getting the VLD together. We’ll look for youand your bike at the Ft. Sutter meet in June if we
don’t see you sooner.

Presenter: Dave Kaechele
Summary:
Come join us for a presentation by BMW
enthusiast and vintage racer Dave Kaechele, whowill talk about vintage BMW sidecar racing. BMWroad racing sidecars were dominant in the 50’s
and 60’s. Those outfits were very specialized andcost as much as a house today. Dave and hispartner Jason Vaden have a built a$5-6 k outfitand will explain its development.
“We raced it twice last summer and had somesuccess, but we still have much to learn. We have
performed some modifications over the winterand I will share that information as well.” Riding a
sidecar is enjoyable and you do not need to becrazy to do it. Dave will explain the process and
perhaps encourage another team to develop an
outfit to vintage road race.
This is intended to be a highly interactive class
with questions and discussion encouraged. Davewill encourage any expertise within the audience
to be shared with the class. If you have an
interest in BMW motorcycles, vintage motorcycleracing, or just motorcycles in general, please join
us.

because, in his own words: “they just are so
reliable and work so well that I have stayed with
the brand”. He has clocked over 300k miles on hisBMW's and has vintage raced for 14 seasons,
winning a club championship in 1999. He prefersthe air cooled BMW twins, but owns a newer oil
