The newsletter of Josh McDowell Ministry FALL 2014 From Josh Thankful for you God is using your gifts in amazing ways to share His truth with the world. I’m so thankful for you! Together, we’ve been given the opportunity to impact others for Christ. And what could be more important than encouraging pastors to stand for the truth? You see, after 54 years in ministry, I still have this great conviction: One of the toughest jobs in the world — and one of the most significant jobs — is being the pastor of a local church. It has always been my prayer that God would use me to minister to pastors, so they can minister to millions. As 2014 comes to a close, my mind turns to pastors in Asia, South America, Africa, the Middle East, the United States and all throughout the world. I think of how important they are and how we need to minister with them and through them. As you read the stories on the following pages, I pray you’ll be encouraged by all God has done and continues to do to help pastors through your gifts. Your partnership would be such a blessing! Until the whole world hears, LOOK INSIDE: To see how God is MULTIPLYING your gifts through pastors!! >>> Please join us in providing resources for pastors, those servants of God who struggle on the front lines. If we can help them win, then we all win.

Your gifts of More Than a Carpenter are equipping pastors all across the globe to share the gospel

“Bayarlalaa” Thank you from Asia

Jesus was more than a carpenter. He poured His truth into the 12 disciples (the early “pastors”) — and look how He changed the world through them!

Today, through your gift of books like More Than a Carpenter, you’re helping equip modern-day disciples to carry out Jesus’ command to make disciples.

Pastors around the world are especially grateful for your gifts. Thanks to you and other generous partners, they’re deepening their understanding of the truth, growing in their faith and MULTIPLYING the impact of your gift by leading others to Christ. Pastors around the world so are thankful for you . . .

Nestled between Russia and China, the small country of Mongolia is struggling to emerge from communism’s influence. But amidst the uncertainty, church leaders have an opportunity

to change the spiritual landscape.

“In May, I traveled to Mongolia for the first time to train pastors and church leaders,” shared Josh. “Currently, More Than a Carpenter is the only one of my books available in Mongolia. Your gifts of these truth-filled books are helping pastors there to know what they believe, why it is true and how to live it out in their lives. More important, you’re helping raise up disciples who can freely travel to places traditionally closed to the gospel — like North Korea! Imagine the impact of your gifts in places like this!”

Thank YOU from around the world

“Shukran” Thank you from the Middle East and North Africa Recently, when Josh visited

this Middle Eastern country (we can’t share the name for security purposes), he was approached by two men. One said:

“Four years ago a man came to our village distributing your books. He gave me a copy of More Than a Carpenter. After reading it many times, I accepted Jesus. Then my cousin read it and accepted Jesus. We are from a village high in the mountains. There are no Christians where we live, so we started a church. We’re telling everyone about Jesus! Thank God for the people who give the money to print the books.”

“Spasibo” Thank you from EuropePeter, a pastor in Russia, uses More

Than a Carpenter to reach people in his community. In each book, Peter includes the church address along with

the day and time they have Bible studies. Your gift of books is helping pastors like Peter shine the light of the gospel in their communities.

“After showing a film about Jesus, I distribute More Than a Carpenter while people are still under the first impressions of the movie. They begin to read the book and they increase their knowledge of Jesus. Those who already received Christ during the film, they deepen their faith. Those who didn’t receive Christ yet, they keep thinking,” he says.

Luis and his wife are pastors in Colombia. Books like More Than a Carpenter don’t sit on a shelf for long there. People pass the books throughout their community, so many are blessed by them.

“I’ve gotten hundreds of testimonies concerning More Than a Carpenter,” shared Luis. “Many people have become believers and servants of God. I know for myself how I have grown because of this book. Thank you for allowing God to use you.”

“Gracias” Thank you from Latin America

Dear Josh,I am a living example of the church losing

its youth. After being one of the youth leaders in my church, I left the church for over 20 years after graduating high school. Even though I eventually started at tending church, my relationship with Jesus didn’t get established until I read your book More T han a Carpenter. I ’m so grateful for this wonderful gift that reaches lost souls like me.
