What is the Accidental Damage Department?

• A department that deals with Total Loss Insurance Claims

• We oversee the collection and assessment of the Policy Holder’s vehicle.

• Once the Pre-Accident Value has been agreed we review the claim and check their vehicle documents and organise payment of the Policy Holder’s Settlement Figure.

What if the Policy holder has misplaced their V5?DO NOT PANIC

• Microfilm copy of the V5• DVLA letter• Purchase ReceiptWe then have to notify the DVLA that the Policy Holder is no longer the registered keeper

Checking the MOT• MOT must be valid for the time of the incident – as

stated in the policy• Check MOT online• Newer vehicles don’t require them• Expired MOT

- If under 6 months- Refer to an engineer for appropriate deduction

• If over 6 months - Repudiate

Checking and Updating MIAFTR

Motor Insurance Anti Fraud and Theft Register• Online record• Previous incidents and owners• Highlights any issues for UW such as

undisclosed incidents

Are We Ready to Pay?Have you…• Confirmed that the Policy Holder is the registered keeper and

that all information relating to the V5 correlates to the policy?

• Checked that the MOT was valid for the time of the incident?

• Confirmed that the Pre-Accident Value has been agreed with the Policy Holder and that any deductions have been noted?

• Updated MIAFTR?

Then you are ready to Pay!
