New eLearning modules EPC & EPCIS
Basics of EPC/RFID
A refreshed and updated 10 min eLearning courseintroducing the basics of the Electronic Product Code(EPC) and the use of the Radio FrequencyIdentification (RFID).
GS1 EPC standards enable globally-uniqueidentification numbers to be used for RFID, with majorbenefits in the tracking and tracing of products,services and other items in supply chains.

Basics of EPCIS
A completely new 10 min eLearning courseintroducing the basics of the Electronic Product CodeInformation Services (EPCIS).
ECPIS is a GS1 standard for sharing information aboutphysical events in the supply chain. It includes anumber of different aspects, such as tracking andtracing, chain of custody or chain of ownership, andrecall; contributing to the safety and security ofsupply chains.

New eLearning module Traceability
Building a traceability framework based on GS1 standards
This eLearning module (26’ min) intends to provide knowledge in key concepts to design traceability systems, based onthe GS1 Global Traceability Standard. Key areas in the GS1 Global Traceability Standard is highlighted to give one theoverview for understanding traceability and supporting users in the first level of implementation.

Pre-requisites to follow this course:
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of the GS1 System.
• We recommend to first follow the eLearning module‘Introduction to GS1 in Traceability’, which provides a high-level and basic understanding of what GS1 offers in termsof traceability.
Our eLearning modules are available for free for ourMember Organisations, who can also use them to train theirown members.
If you are interested in translating these modules, you havethe option to either add subtitles or fully translate the textand audio of the course. We refer to the MO User GuideTranslation Toolkit for more information.

New Director Training & Customer Services
Patrick Maetens
Patrick Maetens recently joined the GS1 Global Office in Brussels asDirector Training & Education and Customer Service.
Patrick’s role will be to develop and implement the strategy for the trainingand education of GS1 Member Organizations and Global Office staff. He willalso ensure that the needs of GS1 Member Organizations in the area ofTraining, Customer Service and Helpdesk are effectively captured,prioritized and met.
Prior to joining GS1 Patrick worked in training & education for 14years.
He worked since 2005 at Johnson & Johnson where his last role wasDirector Strategy Deployment Training and Qualification. Among otherresponsibilities he led the implementation of the J&J single LearningManagement System (LMS), aligned employee's training and qualificationacross sectors and led the Pharm Quality Management System (QMS)Training Council. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Patrick worked for more than20 years for Pfizer where he held a variety of roles in T&E, but also inquality, in new trials, etc.
