INTRODUCTION

Trans-Asia Pipelines Services FZC, Sharjah, UAE has been

serving the growing Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry.

Since its incorporation, we are one of the very few companies

who specialize in pipeline pigging, Hydro testing and

commissioning services.

In terms of equipments and experienced personnel we have

one of the most dedicated team of professionals with over 30

years of experience in the offshore/onshore industry. We

have our own equipments which cater to testing of pipelines

ranging from 2” to 72”. We have successfully executed

projects for Indian and international Oil companies with

highest industry standards both in terms of projects as well

as in terms of safety measures.

Typical services offered by Trans-Asia Pipeline would involve

the cleaning, Hydro testing, Dewatering, Drying and pre

commissioning and commissioning services. With an

extensive inventory of equipment and personnel Trans-Asia

can able to mobilize testing crews at a very short notice

periods. After completion of each project Trans-Asia provides

certified test report and all other pertinent information as

evidence that the pipe has tested according to company

specification and in agreement with International standards.

As a service company in the pipeline Testing Industry our

experience in pigging and Hydro testing operations allow us

to provide state of art services for the Growing Oil and Gas

and Petrochemical Industry.

In addition to the commission of services we also provide

caliper pigging services which actually determines the

change in pipe wall thickness and general condition of

pipelines.

PIGGING

Pigging of a pipeline essentially consist of the following

activities.

- Filling

- Cleaning

- Gauging

Filling

Trans-Asia Pipeline recognizes that filling the pipeline can be

extremely time consuming and cumbersome if the correct

pumps are not employed. Trans-Asia attention to detail and

pre survey of the pipeline system ensures that the optimum

pumping fill rates and fill pipe arrangements are employed.

Cleaning

Cleaning of pipelines is essential for the following reasons:

To remove any debris left in the line from new construction

items such as tools, welding rods, welding icicles etc.

To keep the hydraulic efficiency within design limits by

removing slug, wax debris& scale etc which accumulate in

the pipelines during operation.

To remove mill scale water drop out and other corrective

products thus increasing the useful life of the asset.

Trans-Asia pipeline works closely with client/Contractor to

determine the most effective method of cleaning necessary

to accomplish the desired goals while also considering the

costs associated with materials acquisition and waste

disposal to minimize the environmental impact of the

chemicals used during the cleaning operations.

Thus using both engineering and economics the proper

balance between each aspect of the cleaning process will

be achieved in order to yield the greatest overall benefit in

the quickest possible time with minimum but potential

resources.

Gauging

Gauging is used to verify the ovality of the pipeline. This will

some times require a geometry pig or Intelligent Pig

depending on the client’s requirement.

HYDROTESTING/PNEUMATIC TESTING

Hydro testing of a pipeline is carried out mainly to check the

integrity of the pipeline and to ensure that the pipeline can

be operated at its Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure

(MAOP) and is free from any major defects which could

affect the pipeline during operation.It is the most conven-

tional and economical method to test pipelines before or

during Operations.

Although Trans-Asia Pipeline provides a wide range of

services to the pipeline Industry its strong hold and bulk of

technical experience remains in pipeline hydrostatic testing.

This knowledge and experience brings several important

aspects to the project including rapid completion practical

cost yielding overall satisfaction for the client/contractor.

Trans-Asia Pipeline maintains an extensive inventory of high

pressure positive displacement pumps, break tanks, test

ends, temperature and pressure monitoring and recording

instruments and has the experience to operate them

efficiently. Depending on the length and diameter of the

pipe being tested the appropriate pumps and equipments

will be dispatched to the site to ensure that the pipeline is

tested with the highest level of accuracy and precaution.

Trans- Asia Pipeline will also provide if necessary proper test

headers including all valves blinds flanges, Gaskets and

other fittings. All the equipments used for testing are duly

certified by approved third parties agencies. After each test

is complete Trans-Asia will provide the client/contractor

with a test report including all documents necessary to

meet company/international specification.

Trans-Asia Pipeline also provides Pneumatic Testing Services

where Hydro testing not acceptable for contamination

reasons. We have pneumatically tested a number of

pipelines successfully to client satisfaction.

As it is quite clear from the above Hydro testing/Pneumatic

testing of pipelines is a very specialized job best left to the

experts, and Trans-Asia pipeline has assembled a dedicated

team of testing professionals and equipment for hydro

testing of pipelines of any size.

DEWATERING DRYING

The process of Dewatering is to remove the test water from

the pipeline prior to drying. However, often it is necessary

for the testing contractor to push or move water from the

tested pipeline to the next test section. This is particularly

important when, there is a limitation to water sources and

preservation of the water is of high importance. By virtue of

Trans-Asia Pipeline experience and expertise we will ensure

that the client’s pipeline is dewatered safely and

successfully.

Trans-Asia Pipeline is capable of dewatering pipelines

quickly and safely under any circumstances including high

head situations. Using our compressors we are able to

overcome head pressures in front of pigs. In general,

however the number of compressors needed and their

operating pressures will depend on the characteristics of

the test sections.

After the Hydro tests the best dewatering methods leaves a

film of water clinging to the inside pipe wall. So therefore, it

is necessary to remove this water to eliminate the

formations of hydrates and the possibility of the onset of

internal corrosion causing carbon dioxide and hydrogen

sulphide or to meet the moisture specification for the

delivered product.

Drying is mandatory before commissioning especially for

dry crude oil or dry gas service. Trans-Asia Pipeline has the

expertise and equipment to ensure that your pipeline will

meet or exceeded the drying specifications in the least

amount of time at the lowest possible expense.

Drying Operation consist of the removal of standing water

and water vapor left over in the pipeline. Dew Point

measurements are used to determine the level of moisture

left in the pipeline. The dew point is defined as the tempera-

ture at which water vapor begins to condense out of its

gaseous form at atmospheric pressure. Trans-Asia Pipeline is

able to design and implement the best possible drying

program/schedule that confirms exactly to client/contractor

specifications.

A drying plan developed by Trans-Asia Pipeline investigates

the clients system to determine the length of the sections to

be dried together with pipeline condition(Rehabilitation,

conversion new construction pipeline coatings etc) This

information forms the basis of compressor and desiccant

dryer capacity calculations to ensure an optimum drying

cycle within the stipulated time frame.

Trans-Asia Pipeline maintains extensive inventory of Pigs Pig

launchers and receivers, coolers, desiccant dryers that allow

us to mobilize, clean and dry a pipeline at the least possible

notice.

GEOMETRY INSPECTION RENTAL FLEET

Trans-Asia Pipelines Services provides geometry inspection

services. This inspection actually finds the change in wall

thickness and general condition of Pipelines.

Trans-Asia Pipelines Testing is capable of providing the

means for propelling any inspection tool through pipeline

regardless of the inspection phase. While using an inspec-

tion tool it is critical that the instrument move at a constant

predetermined speed. Because of Trans-Asia’s Extensive

experience in pigging operations we are capable of propel-

ling inspection tools through a pipeline so that the data

received will be of Utmost accuracy.

Trans-Asia has recently forayed in to hiring of equipments

for Pre-commissioning of oil and gas pipelines.

NITROGEN HELIUM TESTING

CONTROLLED BOLTING

OIL FLUSHING

With Respect to any installation that is in contact with gas or liquids containing hydrocarbons it is important that the installa-

tion is leakage tight before it is made active.

The Principle behind Nitrogen/Helium leak testing is the system to be proved is tested at working pressure with an inert

gaseous medium to stimulate operational conditions as closely as possible. Helium is readily detected at low concentrations

by mass spectrometers. Therefore any leakage from a pressurized system contained helium can be detected and quantified.

Trans-Asia provides Nitrogen Helium leak testing services that will quantify leaks down to 1scf/yr.

Nitrogen/Helium testing has proved to be the safest most exacting method available for identifying leaks in process pipe

work. It is highly accurate and leaves pipe work in a safer and inert conditions prior to start up.

Nitrogen gas for Pneumatic pressure testing also saves downtime as it is a quicker process and pipeline or vessel is left dry and

purged and can be brought into service immediately the test is completed.

Engineers, Technician for nitrogen services to minimize your cost and optimize the value of our services.

TAPS as a fully Integrated contractor promote the benefits of controlled tightening, being the use of specially designed

equipment proven bolt loading calculation and written procedures to tighten joints to the desired tolerances in a controlled

and safe manner. This is complementary to the discipline of Helium detection and provides the client with doumentated

confidence in the leak tight condition of the facility prior to the introduction of hydrocarbon
