There’s a lot to love about Miami. Our beautiful campus is small enough to get around by foot and big enough to pursue any interest. It’s as high tech as the electron microscopy lab and as simple as an outside classroom on the quad. The sense of community here makes it the perfect setting for the ideal college experience.

A GREAT FUTURE AWAITS YOU.

TRANSFERRING TO MIAMI WILL HELP YOU GET THERE.

@Jen_Mills16A year ago today I found out I got into Miami as a transfer student! Best decision of my life coming here!

@BrittHoyasThought it was really cool that the guest speaker from William& Mary just told us that Miami’s education is the same as Yales. #PublicIvy

Every student at Miami benefits from a university-wide emphasis on developing skills in written and verbal communication, analyzing data, solving complex problems, and coming up with new solutions so you can succeed in a changing world.

MIAMI’S HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATION AND SOLID RETURN ON INVESTMENT ATTRACTS MORE THAN 350 TRANSFER STUDENTS EACH YEAR.

Your Miami advantagesIN THE CLASSROOM

Amanda wanted a school that could provide opportunities, community, and comfort during her college career. Since she transferred to Miami, Amanda now has everything she could hope for in a university. “The transition was surprisingly smooth. I knew right away that this was where I was meant to go to college. The environment felt like everything that you would expect a college to be. For the first time, I didn’t want to leave college. It had actually become my home.”

Compared to many public universities, undergraduate students at Miami have many more opportunities to work with professors on research and other projects where students gain professional skills.

• Have matriculated full time for at least two years at another institution of higher education.

Many transfer students live in non-university housing within a mile of campus or commute to Oxford. Learn more by visiting the Off-Campus Outreach office at MiamiOH.edu/student-life/off-campus-outreach.

Sharhonda fondly recalls her first visit to Miami’s campus and how she instantly realized it was the perfect fit for her. “While I was walking, I could say ‘hi’ to people, and they would smile and say ‘hi’ back. That made me feel so welcomed. Or asking for directions? It was really welcoming to talk to a stranger, and they were super glad to help me. It was amazing — I didn’t want to go back home.”

(GPA) in your college courses, and be in good standing at your current institution to be eligible for consideration.

TRANSFER APPLICATION REVIEW

Students who have the strongest academic records are given priority consideration. In recent years, most transfer students with a 3.00 GPA or better in a rigorous academic curriculum have been accepted for admission. However, when space and facilities permit, transfer students who are below this average but who have at least a 2.00 GPA will be considered.

Applicants from another Ohio public college or university who have completed the transfer module or an associate degree from that institution will receive preferential admission consideration in accordance with the Ohio Articulation Agreement and Transfer Policy. For more information on this policy, visit MiamiOH.edu/partnerships.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Transfer admission to some programs is limited with requirements such as a higher GPA or upper-class standing. Find a complete list of these programs at MiamiOH.edu/admission/transfer/application.

Questions regarding the transfer process can be directed to the FSB Student Services office at 513-529-1712 or visit MiamiOH.edu/bus-apply.

« AVOIDING THE SEALThe University Seal is embedded into the sidewalk in the center of campus (also called the Hub). Miami tradition is to avoid stepping on the seal out of respect for Miami history and values. Tradition goes that if you do step on the seal, you’ll be punished by failing your next exam.

« ENSURING GOOD LUCKJust behind Warfield and MacMillan Halls you’ll find the Tri Delt Sundial, a gift to the University from Delta Delta Delta sorority. It’s said that rubbing the heads of the turtles on the sundial brings good luck.

UPTOWN (never “downtown”) on High Street is where you’ll find a unique menu of restaurants, coffee houses, shops, clubs, and students hanging out.

ARMSTRONG STUDENT CENTERThe Armstrong Student Center will become the heart of your Miami experience. It offers six exciting dining concepts, a 500-seat theater for performances, and plentiful office space for student organizations.
