In addition, Chameleon will present a new work titled Around Dreams for chamber ensemble and kids written especially for this concert by Hans Spencer, who will be hosting and narrating the event, contributing his various talents as musician, storyteller, and educator. Mr. Spencer describes the inspiration for his piece: “I’m creating a miniature world in which each instrument plays the role of a character having his own dream. As the work evolves and sleep gives way to the light of day, the dreams merge and transform into reality.” The piece calls for audience participation, and children and audience members will be invited to join Chameleon’s percussion section for the performance. Hans Spencer’s career stretches over twenty years supporting stories for theater directors, filmmakers, animators, and choreographers. Called a “master composer” by The Boston Globe, his music is featured in the animated series “Word Girl” airing on PBS, “Underwater Universe” on the History Channel, “NOVA: Secrets Beneath the Ice,” and numerous other documentaries on National Geographic Channel, the Science Channel, and Investigation Discovery. ABOUT CHAMELEON ARTS ENSEMBLE OF BOSTON Founded in 1998, Chameleon Arts Ensemble has distinguished itself as one of Boston’s finest, most versatile chamber ensembles. Chameleon and Artistic Director Deborah Boldin have earned unqualified praise for integrating old and new repertoire into unexpected chamber music programs that are themselves works of art. Her innovative children’s programs received high praise in The Boston Globe: “Artistic Director Deborah Boldin has a special talent for making programs entertaining without 'playing down' to her audience, and she refuses to dumb-down her children’s concerts. The ear was always challenged...joy and learning went hand in hand.” The Globe also noted “Hats off to Boldin and her fine musicians. If serious music — music that brings soul and body together — is to survive, it has to begin with programs, and in places, like these.” PERFORMERS Nancy Dimock, oboe Gary Gorczyca, clarinet Eunae Koh, violin William Manley, percussion

Sally Merriman, bassoon Jan Müller-Szeraws, cello Hans Spencer, host & resident teacher Scott Woolweaver, viola
