As the call for public disclosure of hospital performance grows, the healthcare industry increasingly will benefit from substantiated data. To this end, RTKL is joining with healthcare providers to define what constitutes relevant data and to determine how varying results can be meaningfully compared.

Note: Principal investigators Roger Ulrich, PhD, and Craig Zimring, PhD, identified the above seven facility recommendations in a report to The Center for Health Design. The Robert Wood Johnson foundation funded the project.

This is an extremely exciting time for the healthcare industry. The current digital transformation is causing providers to rethink every component of the healthcare delivery process—particularly when developing new buildings. But problems may arise when caregivers, physicians, technicians, and staff begin to use the new facility. Everything is different. And change can be frustrating.
