The ‘White Paper’
The Problem
“For too long the debilitating effects of material poverty have been divorced from the spiritual causes of poverty that begin with what we value, with
the way we think, and with the resulting economic systems and practices. In this book, we have
revealed that the greatest poverty is that of our economic thought,
encapsulated today in ‘Western’ neo-liberal economics.” from Lessem and
Schieffer’s, Integral Economics

Inspiring Global Transformation“These spiritual sciences
include the contemplative and meditative traditions of a
collective humanity, East and West, North and South, traditions that have been
carefully collecting ‘interior’ spiritual data for at least three thousand years, and traditions that, in deep structure analysis, show a surprising unanimity as to the basic architecture of the ‘higher’ or ‘spiritual’ stages of human development.” from
Wilber’s, The Marriage of Sense and Soul: Integrating Science
and Religion

Tikkun olam – ‘repairing the world’
“Tikkun olam is a Hebrew phrase that means “repairing the world” (or “healing and restoring the world”) which suggests
humanity’s shared responsibility (with the Creator) “to heal, repair and
transform the world.” In Judaism, the concept of tikkun olam originated in the early rabbinic period. The concept was given new meanings in the kabbalah of
the medieval period and further connotation in modern Judaism.”

Project Epignosis – Project Plan
“The Project Epignosis action plan entails initiating a suite of
interrelated components including a complementary
(e.g. ‘local’, ‘festival’) currency, a trade and barter exchange, and
community land trust to invigorate urban
(economic) well-being.” from The City 2.0 Award
Application

Community Involvement
Project Epignosis will support and collaboratively interact with community groups
whose organizational objectives and subsequent projects are mutually consistent
with its own. These partnerships might typically include those already practicing sustainable enterprise and include, for
example, complementary currencies (e.g. ‘time banking’), alternative transportation (e.g.
bicycling), and food (e.g. urban gardening).
