Introduction to Junctionless Nanowire Transistor
Current flow is
controlled by a silicon
gate.The gate is separated
from the nanowire by a
thin insulating layer. The silicon nanowire is heavily n-doped while the
gate is p-doped or vice versa. It depletes electrons or holes in the region of the
nanowire under the gate.
How Does It Work
If a voltage is applied
along the nanowire,
current cannot flow. The depletion region
"squeezes" the
current in the nanowire. If a voltage is
applied to the gate, the
squeezing effect is reduced and current can flow.
As a BiosensorWhen positively charged
target molecules bind the
receptor modified on a p-type
NW, holes are depleted in the
NW, resulting in a decrease in
conductance.Negatively charged target
molecules captured by the
receptor would make an
accumulation of holes, causing
an increase in conductance.
As a Biosensor
Biosensor is biased at a particular point.
Amount of ∆Id shows amount of biomarker in a fixed volume of blood.
