Station Park is located in the heart of Providence’s Capital Center, between the State House, the Providence Train Station and the Providence Place Mall. This proposal embraces the extant geometry of the district and adds a dynamic sculptural event in the form of COR-TEN steel encased bioswales. Sidewalk vault inspired, i l luminated amethyst glass blocks are embedded into the hardscape to focus attention towards the State House while a second vector of color and light, evoking the buried rail l ine, connects the train station, the proposed LRT stop, and a secondary bus hub along Francis Street.

The project began with the simple mission to develop plans for an expansion area of an RIDEM campground. The end result was a document featuring the work shown on this page. The Fisherman’s Memorial Campground was used to il lustrate contemporary sustainability issues, LID principles, and a new call for an artistic and awe-inspiring human imprint upon our habitat and, even more so, upon our ecological restoration efforts.
The Turret Walk: An existing bunker is juxtaposed with coastal buffer restoration.
Above is an exploration of sea level rise and storm surge impacts upon the site.
