What is Transition to Work? Transition to Work (TTW) is a service to help young people aged 15 to 21 find a job and keep it. We give you practical support to develop personal and employability skills to meet the needs of employers and understand workplace expectations to help you find a job. Are you eligible? You may be eligible for the TTW program if you: Are aged 15-21 Aren’t currently enrolled in education Aren’t already participating in employment services Haven’t worked an average of 8 hours or more per week for 13 weeks Don’t have a Year 12 Certificate or a Certificate III or higher OR Received a Year 12 Certificate, Certificate 111 or higher, more than 6 months ago You must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Visa holder, New Zealand Special Category Visa holder or Nominated Visa holder to be in the TTW program. How we can help We’ll help you engage in a range of activities for 25 hours per week including: Identify your strengths, aspirations and skills and any practical challenges to finding a job Work with you to develop employability skills and personal attributes employers are looking for Support personal development to gain self-confidence and to create independence Provide literacy and numeracy support and a suite of workshops/training to develop work ready skills and to support personal development Explore career options and training/education pathways to a job Practical support on how to search and apply for a job, help in developing a quality resume, and improving interview skills Support you to gain a Learners or Provisional Licence, interview/work clothing, transport costs to attend an interview or when starting a job Staff at our skills centres connect with local employers to provide employment/work experience opportunities for young people in local business Finding suitable jobs, opportunities and employers Offer state and federal financial incentives to employers if eligible Once you’re in a job, we’ll provide six months practical support for you and your employer which may include support over the phone, online or at your workplace, even when you’ve found the job yourself

Who are we? yourtown is a national community-based organisation with over 55 years’ experience working with young people facing challenges to engaging in learning and work. We currently operate across five states, employing over 650 people who are committed to helping young people build brighter futures.

We operate Kids Helpline, Parentline in QLD & NT, local parenting programs and family refuges, providing face-to-face, web-based and telephone counselling services and support including 24/7 access to a specialist arm of Kids Helpline.

We also deliver personal support, education, training and employment services at a local and national level. Since 2009, yourtown employment services has placed over 16,000 young people into jobs.
