Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Wellbeing Cross the circle This morning we are going to start the activity by sitting comfortably. We will look at our activity cards and discuss them with an adult. The activity cards have different types of movements on them and the children will act that movement out in the circle. Think about the questions you can ask during the movements such as: Why do astronauts walk like that? Are you walking in space or are you floating in the rocket?

Literacy: News New characters This morning we are going to create new characters for the story Giraffes Can’t Dance! What new animals would you like to add to the book? Do you have a favourite animal that you would like to include? Can your animal fly? Can your animal swim? Think about the kind of things your animal can do. When you have chosen your animal can you think of a dance it can do? We heard in the story all of the different dances

Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Hygiene Pass the germ! This morning we are going to play a game called pass the germ! You will need an object to pass around the circle before you start. Here is how you play: Instructions 1. Arrange the

children so that they are standing in a circle.

2. Ensure that the

children are familiar with the rhyme ‘Ring-a-Ring O’ Roses’.

3. Explain that people

tend to sneeze

Mathematics: Number Formation Summer checklist Today’s number formation activity is going to take us on HOLIDAY! We are going to be looking for objects on our worksheet and counting how many we can find! First we are going to look at what we need to find first on the checklist such as the ice cream. Then looking at the picture worksheet count how many ice creams you can find! Write your answer in the box on the check list paper. Make sure you look carefully for each picture as there could

Once the child is doing the action card you can ask any other child or adult to join in too!

Physical Development:

Games Detective This game is called ‘Detective.’ The aim of the game is to guess which child has the object that the adult has given them. To start the game the adult will chose one child to go first at being the detective. The detective will close their eyes as the adult gives the object to one child to hide behind their back. When the object is behind their back the child being the detective has to guess who has the object.

that the animals did. What will your animal do? For example, if your chosen animal is a bird it can be doing a spin in the sky! Or a kangaroo could be hopping into the night.

Write your sentence on what your animal is doing and once completed draw a picture to match! Mathematics: Number Focus Gerald’s spots! In our story of the week, Gerald had lots of spots on his body just like dice!

when they get a cold and that colds are caused by germs.

Remind the children that by washing their hands regularly they can make sure that germs are washed away and are not passed on to anyone else. 4. Tell the children

that they are going to play a game using the rhyme ‘Ring-a-Ring O’ Roses’ but, instead of walking round in a circle, they will pass the germ picture around the circle. Whoever is holding the germ at the end of the rhyme has to pretend to sneeze and then they sit down.

5. Repeat the rhyme

until there is only one person left standing. They are the winner!

Remind the children of the importance of handwashing so that germs are not passed

be up to 20 of them! Remember to focus on the number formation of your number you are writing. Use this link to watch The Mulberry House number formation videos if the children need some support in the formation of their numbers. Expressive Arts and Design:

Wassily Kandinsky Today we are going to paint in the style of Wassily Kandinsky. Here is some information to get to know Wassily Kandinsky. This artist was chosen as he created abstract paintings with many different colours.

Literacy: Letter Formation This morning we will be recapping the letter h.

But first we need to warm up our fingers so we can do our best handwriting!

Let’s start by rubbing our hands together to get them warm!

Move on to opening and closing your hands. Whilst slowly increasing the speed.

Then with only the hand you write with shake it in the air.

Using the same hand start doing some finger exercise with your index finger. This is done by stretching it up, in the middle and then pointing to the floor.

Do you feel ready to write now? Who can remember the rhyme we learnt yesterday for the sound h?

If the object is found the detective gets to pick the next detective. If the detective does not guess correctly the child hiding the object gets to be the detective! Have fun!

Creative Movement Please do not forget live Creative Movement at 10:45! Use the Zoom Meeting ID and Password: Meeting ID: 886 3336 0517 Password: CMMHStues (Password: 426586)

Today we are going to do an activity using dice and counters. We are going to roll the dice and using the counters, count out the amount shown on the dice. For example if I roll the dice and it lands on 4 I will pick 4 counters. Roll dice until you get to 20 counters! This means you have to count all of the counters together to make sure you collect all 20! Adults, play this game as a group at first and then let the children play in pairs taking it in turns to roll the dice and count the counters. Have fun! Understanding the World Let’s go on a walk This morning we are going to look at the world around our school or if you’re at home you can go for a short walk and see what you can find.

We can use this to create our own painting to represent our favourite time of the year in theme with our art focus The Natural World. In the PowerPoint we learnt that Kandinsky used colours to paint what he is feeling using the colours to represent it. He would listen to the sounds around him or music to help. We are going to first do a colour experiment and mix colours together to see what colours they turn into using prime colours only. Prime colours include: Red Yellow Blue See what happens when you mix two colours together! What colour did it change to? What happens if you add more of one colour? Does it become darker

Here is the rhyme for h:

“Down the head, to his hooves and over his back.”

Thinking back to yesterday’s lesson can we remember any of the words that start with h?

• hen • house • horse • hands • hat • hair • honey • helicopter

We are now going to practice our letter formation of h on our paper.

Literacy: News We have a fantastic new book to read this week! Please listen to the story link above and enjoy Giraffes Can’t Dance! Questions: What animal is Gerald? Can you remember any other animals in the story? Do you remember the name of the dances? What happens to Gerald when he tries to dance? Where does Gerald live? Now we have completed our story and answered the questions we are going to write about our favourite dance from the book! So, was it the Warthogs waltzing?

First we are going to take notice of everything around us, you can also take a minute and close your eyes and see if you can hear anything that you can’t see. Could you hear anything or see something that you have not noticed before? Next let’s take a moment and think about how what we can see/feel and hear around us makes us feel, does it make you feel happy, scared, excited, sad or nerves if your struggling to remember or to name the emotion you may be feeling please refer back to our wellbeing lesson during week 8 to help with this. Now let’s take the time to wonder why we find different objects outside in our school or in our environment if you took a walk, why are they not inside? Is there a reason? Take your time with each part of this activity there is a sheet below that can be filed out

cards. Adults, the children need to be in pairs for this activity. Once the children are in pairs give them their set of cards. The aim of the game is to match the action on the card. If the children get a match cards they need to say “hygiene!” When the children have used all of their cards ask how many matches each child has. Once completed talk to the children about hygiene and why it’s important we keep our hands and clothes

or lighter? In the style of Kandinsky we are going to do our activity thinking about seasons and which colours we think represent them: • Winter – blue,

grey, purple • Autumn – orange,

yellow, green • Spring – light blue,

light green, light pink

• Summer – red,

orange, yellow, dark purple

The activity is to look at the painting created by Kandinsky and create your own “Squares with Concentric Circles” Use the water colour paints to represent your season you have chosen! Enjoy!

Make sure you are sitting on your chair all the way back with your feet on the floor and holding your pencil correctly.

Use the rhyme to guide you if you get stuck!

After you have finished writing the letter h draw a picture at the bottom of our page off an object that starts with h.

Remember to use the correct colours!

Mathematics: Project (Weight and length) Today we are going to start learning about weight! We are going to start our lesson using the weighing scales. Does anyone know what weighing scales do? Weighing scales

Rhinos rock n rolling? Lions dancing the tango? Or the chimps doing the cha cha? Use the worksheet below to write your sentence and dance a picture to match!

Mathematics: Number Focus Bigger or smaller This afternoon we are going to be playing a game called bigger or smaller! What you need for this game: Paper Markers On the paper write the numbers 1-20.

with either writing or drawing a picture to represent each section. Have fun and I wonder if you will notice anything you may not have seen before.

Expressive Arts and Design: Jungle drawings! We saw in our story this week that Gerald lives in the jungle! Can you remember which animals we saw in the jungle in Giraffes can’t dance? Today’s activity is to draw a picture of a jungle with animals you would find there! Talk altogether about: What you would see in a jungle? Do you think it’s hot or cold? What colour is the sky?

clean! Literacy: Phonics To start our lesson today we are going to start with our phonics warm up which we use before every lesson. We are going to warm up our hands… First, we rub hands, palms together, then the back of each hand. Then we open and close our hands. Opening our hands as wide as we can! Shake your hands out. Then we turn our listening ears on (making the clicking sound to indicate them on). Then the adult asks to see their big learning eyes and counts down from 3, 2, 1 and looks around for BIG learning eyes. Now it’s time to learn our new sound! Today we will be looking at the sounds f

Literacy: Phonics Today we will be recapping the sounds f and b.

Can you remember any of the words we spoke about yesterday?

Can we think of different words that start with each of these sounds?

Once we have a list of different words again that start with each of these sounds can we pick two NEW words for each sound and

measures how much something weighs! It shows if something is heavy or light. Look around and find some objects to put on the scale that will show weight difference. For example a cube and a water bottle. Here are a few object ideas: Toy Dinosaurs Toy car Board pen Pencil Alphabet stones Put different objects on the scales to see which one is the heaviest. If the object is the heaviest it will fall lower down than the other side. If the object is lighter it will be higher than the other side. Experiment: Can you turn a light object into a heavy

Page 7: Transition Week 13 Timetable Story Time Welcome message€¦ · Transition Week 13 Timetable . Story Time Welcome message. Learning Intentions for this Week: • To create a new character

The aim of the game is to guess if the next number is going to be bigger or smaller than the number before. So, mix up all the cards and show the group the first card and ask them what do you think is going to come next? Is the number going to be bigger or a smaller? Turn the card around and ask the children, “Were your guesses correct?” Carry on until you finish all cards! Expressive Arts and Design: In our Art lesson this afternoon we are going to be looking at Giraffes. We are going to be studying drawings of giraffes and creating our own using the photos to help us. When you are going to draw the giraffe look at how long the legs are and how long the

Is there grass on the floor or is it something else? What animals would we find there? Once you have finished your discussion use a white piece of paper and draw your picture of the jungle and two animals you would find there! Remember to use accurate colours to match the discussion you had. Mathematics: Number Formation Chalkboard Maths Our number formation lesson today is a group activity. The adult will use a bag and hide objects inside it. The bag can be filled with different objects such as: • Toy ladybirds • Cars • Trains • Toy butterflies • Cubes

and b. Can you remember how we make the sound f? Ask the children to come to the white board and write the f on the board. Now let’s think of some works that start with f… Words that start with f.. • Fish • Funfair • Football • Forest • Flag

Can you remember how we make the sound b? Ask the children to come to the white board and have a go at writing b on the board. Now let’s think of some words that start with b… Words that start with b… • Ball • Bat

practice our writing;

When you have completed your writing let’s now draw one picture for each sound, representing one of the words you have just written.

Remember to use the correct colours.

Physical Development: Gym with Coach Marc!

Literacy: Letter Formation We will be looking at the letter h today.

Here is the rhyme for h:

“Down the head, to his hooves and over his back.”

Ask the children to say the rhyme with you.

object? If you use lots of small light objects does it make it heavier? Let the children use the scales to experiment with. For our Maths project activity today we are going to be learning about weight. We will be learning about heavy and light by looking at different objects. In the first section there are two pictures in the square box. The children are to colour in the heaviest one. In the second box there are also two pictures. However, the children are to now colour in the lightest object out of the two. Have fun!

neck is. Focus on the shape of the giraffe and the patterns on the body too. Questions: What shape are the patterns on the giraffe’s body? Are they all the same size? Does the giraffe have a tail? Does your giraffe look like Gerald? Once you have completed your drawing colour it in using the accurate colours!

• Pencils • Toy animals • Dinosaurs

Each child will take it in turns to take out an object and the adult will say a number of objects and the group will write it down. For example, if a child takes out a car the adult will say “Today we have 14 cars or 10 dinosaurs” The children are to write the number on the board and hold them up so the adult can see. These numbers will go up to 20. An additional activity to make it more challenging use simple addition and subtraction and ask them to write the answers on the board.

Understanding the World: Lets’ get creative with

• Bag • Banana • Butterfly • bird

Now we have completed our list can you pick two words from each list to write down. When completing your writing you can draw a picture to represent your sound! Remember to use the correct colours! Expressive Arts and Design: Drama with Fran!

Ask the children to come to the board and write their h on the board whilst saying the rhyme.

Can we think of anything that starts with h?

• hen • house • horse • hands • hat • hair • honey • helicopter

Fantastic! Now we are going to start practicing our own h. Using a piece of paper write down h and see how many you can do. Make sure you use your finger to make a space between each letter. We are now going to practice our formation of h.

When we have finished writing our h lets draw a picture at the bottom of our page of an

Expressive Arts and Design: Desert art In theme with our Natural world art theme we are going to discover the desert! Questions to ask: Has anyone been to the desert? What do you think is in the desert? Are there plants in the desert? Are there animals in the desert? Before you start the activity use the pictures and talk about what you can see. Camel Scorpions Iguanas Cactus agave Talk about the different animals and plants that live in the desert. Do we see these animals here? Do we see these

what we can use the land around us; we are going to watch this short video about a man who uses the land around him to create large paintings. This video can be found on discovery education Username: student35794 Password: Mulberry After watching the video ask the children some compression questions about what they have seen such as: • Where does the

artist paint his giant pictures?

• Which one did you

like the best? • What colours did the

artist use? • Will the paint hurt

the grass? • What kind of pictures

does Saype, the artist, like to paint?

• Where is the artist

from? Once you have answered the questions, it’s now our turn to think

object that starts with h.

Remember to use the correct colours!

Mathematics: Project (Weight and Length) We are going to be continuing our project on Weight and Length. This afternoon we will be focusing on length. We are going to be using rulers and meter long rulers to measure different objects around the room. Think about which type of ruler you will need to measure your objects. For example if you are measuring a pencil you could use a ruler because it’s not very long. However, if you were going to measure yourself you

plants here? The activity today is to draw an animal or a plant you would find in the desert using the information and pictures above. Think about the way they look – such as the way Camels have humps on their back or the Cactus plant being so prickly. Once you have completed your drawing start to draw the desert background! Remember think about the sand on the floor the Desert Dunes in the background. Use the picture to help guide you.

Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Wellbeing A jar of feelings We are going to create a jar of feelings.

about what we would paint on the side of mountains? Take a white A4 bit of paper and get creative with what you would paint on the land. Perhaps you could use chalk and get creative in your own outdoor space. Have fun, with your design and remember to use the correct colours.

would not use a ruler because you are bigger then the ruler and would need a meter long ruler. Once you have finished measuring different objects tell your adult which object was the shortest and which was the longest thing you measured! To continue our learning about length we are going to complete the worksheet this week which is about longer and short. The activity is to copy the image but making them either longer or shorter. The first drawing to complete is to draw the flag pole longer. The second is to draw the pencil shorter. Below, is the worksheet to complete for length:

For this activity you will need: • A jar / a see

through container • Cotton wool balls/

coloured paper/ tissue paper (multi coloured) / large Pom Poms

Sit in a circle and ask the children to talk about what they have felt this week or today. What made them feel this way? Did they talk about this with an adult? Then ask them to pick the colour that matches their feelings. For example, if they felt angry the red colour would be the colour to use. When they have picked they put it in the jar/ see through container. When all children have done this look at the jar/ see through container and talk about what colour you

have the most of. Physical Development: Games Lego Zoo! Together as a group we are going to create a Zoo made from Lego or Duplo! Everyone will create a part of the zoo and once they are completed we are going to put them altogether to make one BIG zoo! Adults, let the children think about different areas of the zoo they would like to create! Guide the children and help them create areas for their chosen animal to sleep or thinking about if they live in the water or on land? Let’s work as a team!
