ZF4HP16 FWDRange Switch Testing: P0705On the ZF4HP16 FWD the range switch is a common failure. Use the following connector view and chart to test the operation of the switch. To test the switch use connector view figure 1.

#16181. Confirm battery power on pins 1 & 72. Confirm reverse lights work. If not inspect pin 8, pin 8 feeds power to the reverse lights when in

reverse.3. Does the car start in Park and Neutral? If yes pins 9 & 10 are good. Pin 9 grounds the PNP relay

when in Park and Neutral. Pin 10 is a ground at all times.4. Next, check each switch in each range. Test L1, L2, L3 and L4. Compare voltages to chart (figure 2)

in each range.

Some late model cases are not machined properly. If you get a unit in the shop and the only issue is the 2-4 band burnt, pay close attention to the servo bore. If the servo bore is not fully machined as shown on the left, the srevo pin will catch on the rig and drag the band.

To repair this issue, use a dremel to finish the bore travel area as shown in the illustration on the right.
