Smoking in a crowd is a very dangerous act as it might burn people and clothing. In Nagoya, four areas of Nagoya Station, Sakae, Kanayama and Fujigaoka are designated as “Public Nonsmoking Area”.

Smoking is prohibited on any street designated as “Public Nonsmoking Area”. Not only while walking and riding a bicycle, but also stopping, smoking is not allowed. You may not keep a lit cigarette. Offenders shall be imposed administrative fines of ¥2,000. We ask for your cooperation in keeping the public space safe and comfortable for all.

How to take a Taxi

When you want to take a taxi, flag down a taxi on the street, go to a taxi stand or directly telephone a taxi company.

If the “空車(Vacant)” sign is indicated at the lower right of the windshield, the taxi is available.

The taxi fare is determined by a base fare and depending on the t i m e a n d d i s t a n c e t o y o u r destination. The average minimum fare is ¥500 per 1.3km. Your fare will be shown on the meter at the left of the driver. During midnight hours and in case of dispatch of a car, a certain surcharge will be added.

The door to the back seat will open automatically, it is not necessary to open it yourself.
