Managing and integrating railway security projects

Goren-Kidon offers:

Attacks on light rail systems have occurred in all corners of the globe, including Venezuela, Colombia, India, Pakistan, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Bombs were the most frequently used weapon in these attacks, although firearms and arson have also been used. Goren-Kidon is specializing in regulating, adjusting and controlling passengers in a way that will create minimum effect on the stations routines, enabling public travel with minimum interruptions but with a great sense of security.

Ongoing Training

PBL- problem based

learning Experienced consultants and instructors

Goren-Kidon designed the security structure

of Mexico City Metro

The physical space constraints in some locations, coupled with commuter densities, make it nearly impossible to construct rail station “safe zones” like those separating check-in counters from departure gates at airports. The great challenge at the Mexico City Metro system was to control 4.8 Million passengers a day at one of the biggest Metro systems in the world. The key for securing a railway or Metro systems is in realizing and taking into consideration that the measures used to secure airports and airplanes are likely to be impractical with passenger trains. Airports make extensive use of passenger screening, metal detectors, X-ray machines, explosives sniffers, hand searchers, and armed guards. Such measures necessarily add to costs and travel times. Security measures resulting in increased fares or longer travel times would likely lead to losses in ridership.

Metro Security has to be light, smart and efficient!

"There are two kinds of profiling. There’s behavioral

profiling based on how someone acts, and there’s

automatic profiling based on name, nationality,

method of ticket purchase, and so on. The first one can

be effective, but is very hard to do right. The second

one makes us all less safe. The problem with automatic

profiling is that it doesn’t work".

Bruce Schneier is a security technologist and author of several books on computer

security, including “Beyond Fear: Thinking Sensibly about Security in an Uncertain

World.”

Goren-Kidon offers:

Comprehensive training for detection of the abnormal – a "needle in a haystack"

Training for detecting suspicious indications in behavior

Building a profile according to the environment, the customer, and the nature of the facility

Training how to understand "body language"

Equipping with the best-tested technology available for face recognition and behavior analysis

Risks Assessments

Questioning a passenger

No doubt, the best way to prevent a terrorist attack is to stop terrorists before they can strike. The mission profile for the overall Metro security program requires that specified Categories of security services are deployed to certain locations. An effective security analysis will require full understanding of the movement, analyze crime trends, and conduct security site surveys.

Profiling Mass Inspections through Profiling

"Good security has people in charge. People are resilient.

People can improvise. People can be creative. People can

develop on-the-spot solutions. People can detect attackers

who cheat, and can attempt to maintain security despite

the cheating. People can detect passive failures and

attempt to recover. People are the strongest point in a

security process. When a security system succeeds in the

face of a new or coordinated or devastating attack, it's

usually due to the efforts of people".

The training method used by Goren-Kidon in

its courses is called "PBL- problem base

students are encouraged to solve problems

arising in situations simulated by the

instructors. Lessons are designed so that

students make connections to previous

knowledge, bring their own questions to class,

attempt to answer their own questions, and

design ways to try out their ideas. One of the

important advantages of this technique is that

both instructors and students share the

experience, enabling them to get down to

C-IED

Searching for a needle in a haystack is practically a

mission impossible if you are not well trained and equipped

with the right knowledge and technical tool. We at Goren-

Kidon have the right experience, knowledge and equipment

required for this complex mission.

We are well familiar with the fact that mass entrance security

screening is not assuring or completely preventing the

penetration of that the "enemy's means" – whether it is a

simple knife or other weapon as a gun or a bomb, because it

can be already concealed in the secured area, or can be

infiltrated during sessions the surrounding security is not tight

(night).

The technical searching as it is practiced by our teams of

trainers and experts is based on Risk Assessment

performed in the field, by understanding what the exact

"components" of the secured arena are

Planning the searching is the Mainstay of the C-IED

(Counter Improvised Explosive Device) actions and methods,

whom require major understanding of what are the risks us

confronting with.

tailor made solutions according to customers' needs and risk assessment

formulated with the customer.

The following step after performing risk assessment, training and planning is

practically executing the searching plan with professional team leaders, sector

managers and searching managers – all of those functionaries were trained at

the training stage and are ready for performing the searching stage.

Goren-Kidon is escorting the managers and commanders in the field, making

QA & C-IED Searching:

Overlapping is one of the strongest tools for assuring and

reassuring the level of searching is being sustained according

doctrine definitions.

Technology and Technical means are the tools of

"the second assuring ring", those tools are looking for the human

error.

Biologic Sensors as searching dogs, are our third assuring

ring, enabling us to detect explosive that are not possible to detect

by conventional searching or technologies.

Fast Bridging for traffic solutions and emergency applications

Emergency

Goren-Kidon's vision for security and crisis management provides civil

engineering solutions for emergency cases of or for other needs requiring

fast assembling or recovery.

Our bridging solutions provides a long lasting bridges, for many years

after assembling, with galvanized steel and fortified structure that enable

a very high load capacity for even carrying freight train.

Among our customers are the United Nations, the Governments of Laos,

Malaysia, Thailand, Poland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Mexico, Chile, Peru,

Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and many more.

Goren-Kidon provides Panel Bridges trusses for various purposes – Humanitarian

Support, Army, Traffic control, Natural disaster, and other tailor-made applications.

A simple panel bridge is often the best solution. By doubling-up the panels, the modular units can expand the reach of the bridge and add to its weight

carrying capacity — making a perfect fit for your particular project. We have also designed and built lift bridges that raise and lower, much like an elevator or

lift in a building, to accommodate ship traffic on a river, and we have helped our clients build multi-use bridges that accommodate vehicles, trains and

pedestrians.
