STATEWIDE STRATEGIC PLAN

• Texas’ metropolitan cities are among the most congested locations in the nation. • To maximize mobility using the available transportation funding, the Texas

Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is implementing a Transportation SystemsManagement and Operations (TSMO) program statewide.

• By collaborating with partner agencies and implementing data-driven decisions, the transportation network will be saferand more efficient and will improve reliability for travelers of all modes.

Introduction & Scope

Today we will be conducting a workshop-style survey focused on the institutional barriers of DFW joint Traffic Management.

We have developed a series of questions for the purpose of spurring conversation and ideas. The questions have an answer section for us to gather data for reporting. So for each question, we will have a

discussion time, then fill out the answer for your agency based on your understanding after discussion.

As with other TSMO workshops, our purpose is to gauge how well Dallas and Fort Worth districts are doing in the area of

collaborative Traffic Management and develop an action plan for improvement.

Introduction & Scope – CMM Dimensions

9

Today we will discuss these dimensions as they

pertain to Traffic Management and the collaboration of Traffic

Management between the Dallas and Fort Worth

districts’ TMCs.

Website Coordination

Drive Texas:

TxDOT supports the travel information website, www.drivetexas.org, which provides highway condition information to the public. This website is valuable for construction and traffic information; however, it is also a great resource during adverse weather. Based on this information, travelers can make route planning decisions prior to beginning their journeys. This supports the

statewide TSMO objectives to consider the user experience and provide traveler information. This can be seen as a gateway to district websites.
