Nuqui – National Park Utría: Perhaps one of the richest and healthiest ecosystems on the planet is in the northern

Colombian Pacific coast, a protected area known as Natural Utría Cove National Park.

Few places meet both mystery and beauty at the same time as Utría Cove does, located on the northern Pacific coast of

Colombia. To the south of the inlet, a series of foothills covered in lush rainforests hidden in the mist. The wildlife is a key to

maintaining biodiversity and are an essential component of the relationship between humans and nature, and the formation of

their perception and representation of the world around them. The diversity of wildlife in Utría is as complex as the

heterogeneity of their environments and ecosystems. In the tropical rainforest, mammals can be found several taxonomic

groups such as primates, xenartras, ungulates, rodents and carnivores. Examples of these are the jaguar (Panthera onca), puma

(Felis concolor), deer (Mazama spp), wild boars (Tayassu peccary), peccaries (Tayassu tajacu), black howler monkey

(Alouatta palliata), spider monkeys (Ateles fusciceps), anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), lazy white (Bradypus variegatus),

guaguas (cuniculus paca) agoutis (Dasyprocta punctata), among others. Additionally, reptiles and amphibians are important

pieces of the ecosystem. You can find iguanas, chochoras, snakes and frogs of various shapes and colors.

The birds of this jungles are about 380 species, one of the largest diversities in the world, and inhabit all the jungle

strata until the coastal marine areas.

The marine fauna is equally rich, given the interaction of ecosystems and the seafloor. In the coral reefs, we find 11 of the 16

species of corals recorded in the Colombian Pacific. Ranging from branching corals of the genus Pocillopora, Porites,

Psammocora stellata, 3 species of the genus Pavona and Gardineroseris planulata. Utría has reported around 81 species of

mollusks, including cambute (Strombus galeatus) and piangua (Anadara spp) which are important species of food for local

communities, and more than 180 species of fish ranging from tiny goby fish (Gobiidae) to the whale shark (Rhincodon typus).

Other emblematic species such as marine mammals regularly visit the NNP Utría, such as the humpback whales (Megaptera

novaeangliae) which are eagerly awaited each year between the months of June to November. The bottlenose dolphins

(Tursiops truncatus) and the genus Stenella be seen throughout the year. Other occasional visitors such as sperm whales

(Physeter macrocephalus), killer whales (Orcinus orca) and pilot whales (Grampus griseus) have been reported visiting the

calm waters of the inlet along with other species of whales and dolphins.

Sea turtles are a group of species which every year come to the park's beaches for their nesting season, the Kind Ridley

(Lepidochelys olivacea) is the most found in the areas of the beach Cuevita with sporadic nesting records. You can also see the

Cana turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) and the Green turtle (Chelonia mydas).

Day 8, day 9 and day 10. P.N Natural Utría: We will spend these days in the region of the Colombian pacific, retracing

paths through different areas of the Chocoana Jungle, boat rides to transport from one place to another, beautiful sunrises and

breathtaking sunsets will accompany us every day along with heavy rain and intense sun. Days of watching birds, unrepeatable

anywhere else in the world, will delight our visitors. Complementing our birdingwatching and completely free: receive music

and dancing lessons, food and crafts of black communities and the still existing Mesoamerican tribes of Embera. Daily

breakfast, lunch, dinner and hydration is included during our birding tours.
