Travel Info The City, Tirupati in South India Tirupati is in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, South India. It is most famous for its Sri Venkateswara Temple dedicated to Vishnu and is situated in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh. Tirupati is located in eastern ghats, a mountain range that runs along the south-eastern India. Lord Venkateswara is also called the Lord of the Seven Hills. This temple has acquired a special sanctity in the Hindu religion which was considered very holy. The benefits that accrue by a pilgrimage to this holy town is mentioned in the Vedas and Puranas. One of the most important pilgrimage centers in India, the temple draws millions of pilgrims and is believed to be the busiest pilgrimage centre in the world. Being the richest temple in India, it is a master piece of South Indian Architecture. The Sanctorum 'Ananda Nilayam' has a glittering gold covered 'Vimana' and gold covered gates guard the sanctum sanctorum. Places of Interest in and around Tirupati Lord Venkateshwara Temple, Silathoranam, Padmavati Temple, Sri Venkateswara Museum, Chandragiri Palace and Fort, Srikalahasti, Horsley Hills, Gurramkonda, Sri Venkateswara Sanctuary, Kapila Theertham, Kaigal Waterfalls, Talakona, Kalyani Dam, Regional Science Centre, Kailasanathakona and Sila Thoranam. The Venue, Hotel Udayee International Hotel Udayee International is located at opposite to Central Bus Stand and the distance from Air Port is 12 Km, Renigunta Railway Station is 8 Km and Tirupati Railway Station is 1 Km. How to Reach By Air Tirupati airport is located at Renigunta, which is about 15 km away from the city. Regular flights are available from Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore to Tirupati. Taxi services are available from the airport to the city centre. Nearest International airport is Chennai, which is connected to all major cities in India and many cities abroad. By Train Tirupati is a major junction in South Central Railways. Indian Railways (www.indianrail.gov.in) operates direct trains from near by metro cities - Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and from other major railway stations to Tirupati. Trains can also be boarded at nearby city, Renigunta (8 km from Tirupati). Frequent bus service is also available between Tirupati and Renigunta. By Road National Highway NH 205 passes through Renigunta and hence is accessible from Chennai (3 hrs), Bangalore (5 hrs), Hyderabad (10 hrs) and other nearby cities.
